Regulus felt a little exposed in his costume, but he kept reminding himself that a kilt was merely a shortened version of the robes he normally wore. His costume - and Gaius' as well - had come about due to Tybalt's influence. Tybalt had been showing them a Muggle television programme called Highlander and had remarked that Regulus would make a good Duncan MacLeod. That had led to Gaius volunteering to dress as Methos, and thus their costumes had been decided upon.
Regulus had opted for the kilt because Gaius had insisted on it, although he wasn't accustomed to exposing his knees in public, and he had opted not to carry a sword. "If I run across any other Immortals, I will simply have to take my chances," he'd said dryly.
By the time they finished dressing and arrived at the pub, it appeared the Halloween party was in full swing, and he looked around for a free table.
"There may be something on the far side of the room," he said. "Or we can take our chances with your family." He pointed to draw Gaius' attention to the table where he could see Severus with all the little Snapes. Remus, Tybalt, and Serenus were nowhere in sight, but Regulus had no doubt they were somewhere in the crowd.
