The shop was far too crowded for Padma to mill and speak with individual people, so she took up her station behind the counter, while Brenna was kept busy pouring tea and coffee for patrons.
There had been several purchases, but for the moment people were just browsing, so Padma pulled out her customer book and began quickly updating names and preferences. She had just tucked the book away, when a black cat suddenly appeared on the counter.
"Well, hello there," Padma said with a smile. She hesitated to pet the cat, just in case it wasn't as friendly as it seemed.
