Gaius had been immersed in a huge chest of knick-knacks in the storeroom when the voice sounded from the main area of the shop, but he knew Regulus would deal with it. No doubt it was a delivery, or perhaps an applicant for the job Regulus had advertised.
He pulled out a marble obelisk after several minutes of rummaging through a plethora of scarabs - apparently a reproduction of Cleopatra's Needle, which began to glow in his hands. "Oh... Now are you a light, or something more?" he murmured, turning the impeccable carved stone over and over in his hands. It began to hum faintly, and Gaius wasn't certain whether he should be concerned or not; Regulus had said nothing was cursed, but one could never be too careful.
Standing, he walked into the main area of the shop. "Regulus, this isn't sinister, is it?" he asked, edging around a large sarcophagus that was in the way. It wasn't until he had a clear line of sight that he noticed Regulus' visitor was still there, and they were shaking hands. "Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt!" He smiled sheepishly, holding up the obelisk. "I just wanted to make sure I'd not stumbled upon something that was going to be a surprise. The light didn't bother me, but the humming is a little disconcerting."
