There will be a time we'll get back our freedom
Characters: Barty, Padma Summary: Barty is having trouble getting a job. Padma offers a shoulder.
Barty crumpled up the small roll of parchment and threw it across the room. Yet another rejection. Yet another job application knocked back because of who he was. He had hoped that his name changing to Barty Elias would help him avoid this kind of prejudice, but the newspaper reports at the time of his incarceration had ruined that for him. Too many people knew that he had originally been Barty Crouch, and were treating him as though he was still that man. His sympathy for his past victims notwithstanding, he was irritated that his present was still shackled by his past.
So irritated, he decided the best thing he could do to improve his mood was to pay Padma a visit, and it was less than ten minutes later that he pushed open the door to the bookshop and called out a greeting.
