Padma took the letter from the owl, and read it over quickly. Poor Debi - she had to be feeling frustrated at still being pregnant. As Padma went to set the letter down, she caught a whiff of... was that Nutella? And she found yellow sugar on one corner, now that she was looking. Padma couldn't help but laugh.
"Cravings, Debi? After the day you had yesterday, I don't blame you one bit." Padma set the letter down and handed the owl a treat. "If you'll wait around, I have something for you to take back to Debi.
The owl settled down on the perch that Padma kept available, while Padma walked briskly through the shop, picking up various books. With a grin, Padma wrapped them up and charmed them to weigh almost nothing, then sat down to write a quick letter.
Dear Debi,
I'm glad I was there to help yesterday, though I feel somewhat responsible for what happened after bringing up what I did. I didn't mean to make you go into false labour! I'm sure it has to be frustrating to be so close and yet not quite there yet. I know Parvati was very ready for my nephew to come by the end of her pregnancy.
I've enclosed some books for you - some on babies and some to completely distract you from the thought of babies. Hope you enjoy...
Padma
