Free.... Sirius hadn't thought of it like that, really. It had been quite a while after escaping Azkaban before he had got a wand, and although that hadn't meant living entirely without magic -- he had, after all, always had the animagus transformation to fall back on -- he had certainly felt freedom without much of it. For him, consistent magic was more security -- or better yet, confidence. He could do what he expected to be able to do, and that felt good.
He had lain down beside Gaius, but his thoughts were wandering, he realized, as they seemed to do these days, in courting circles around ideas of magic and death. Gaius deserved more attention. Sirius raised his head.
"Right," he agreed. It was just a difference of a word, after all. He was just as happy as Gaius. "All those disasters were making it hard to have fun." He winked at Gaius, and threw an arm over him, pulling him close again. "And fun is important."
