Lil's jaw dropped as she realized the Death Eater was crying. Crying! Was he really sorry?
"Lil? Is that you?"
She watched long enough to be sure that the Death Eater was gone before dropping to one knee beside Debi. Her great-niece was still shaking, tears starting to roll down her face in reaction. Lil grabbed her right hand as her left cradled her rounded belly.
"Here, you're safe - yes, darling, it's me, I'm here, you're safe - " Lil stroked the rumpled hair and conjured a packet of Kleenex. "It's all right, he's gone."
"The baby - oh God, he wanted to - "
Lil wrapped her arms about Debi and stood. "Let's get you to St. Mungo's to check, but I'm sure the little one is fine. Hold on, I've got you, Side-Along isn't hard, we'll be there in two shakes of a lamb's tail - "
She concentrated on the Urgent Care Ward (good thing Zacharias had never seen her following him, but how could she let her Debi marry him if she didn't know what he was like?), took a long, lovely breath of real air, and disapparated.
