My Momma told me...
Characters: Padma Summary: Something just isn't right...
Padma rolled over, stretching luxuriously. Faelan had gone off to work early this morning, but Padma had allowed herself a lazy morning. She tried to roll over onto her stomach and encountered something that hadn't been there before.
Blinking, she looked down, then closed her eyes and pinched herself. Unfortunately, it seemed she was awake. Awake and pregnant. She poked at her swollen belly, and it poked back. Padma tried not to panic. She looked at least six months along. Had she lost time? Did this have something to do with all the strange magical problems that had been occurring?
Well, she'd better go to St. Mungo's. With a groan, Padma pushed herself out of bed and reached for a sari. At least she had some clothes that would wrap around any kind of body.

It was slightly worrisome when the doctor called in two other doctors to examine her as well, then had a conference with them out in the hall. Padma bit her lip and tried not to fidget. Maybe something was wrong with the baby. Her stomach moved and she patted it comfortingly.
"Ms. Patil," Dr Raines said, when he had come back in. "Have you been... having relations with a werewolf lately?"
"I... well, yes," Padma said. "Regularly, in fact."
"Ah." Dr Raines took off his eyeglasses and polished them. "Well, we have an unusual situation. It seems that the recent magical fluctuations have worked with the approaching full moon and caused your lover to impregnate you, despite your contraceptive potion."
"I had gathered that," Padma said dryly. "Is that the unusual situation?"
"Not exactly," Dr Raines said. "It seems that you're not really have a baby... so much as werecubs."
Padma stared at him. "Cubs? Plural?"
"Four of them, to be exact."
For the first time in her life, Padma fainted.

There was really no other way around it. Padma would... whelp in a few days, as Dr Raines put it, since the magical fluctuations seemed to have sped up the gestational period. She had to tell him. Sitting down at her desk, Padma picked up her quill.
Dear Faelan,
If you could please come by after work, there's something we need to discuss...
