"Oh, you'd be surprised at how quickly I can miss you," Sirius answered lightly, taking his lover's hand. "But that was fast. Let's start, shall we?"
They headed out the door and down the hill, James floating behind them with a quiet manner that Sirius could only think of as subdued. Below them, the flares and sparkles of the fair, visible even in the afternoon light, drew closer. After sunset, Sirius knew, they would make a beautiful spectacle. On the far side of the cluster of tents, he saw a few figures, approaching the same target with an oddly slow and steady trudge. Sirius shrugged. No doubt, they'd had a long day at something.
In the first makeshift alley, he paused and looked over James. "Good enough? You might try to hunt down Harry; he'd like that, I'm sure."
