James laughed pleasantly and settled down almost onto the duvet. "Now, now!" he chided. "No call to be unpleasant about it. You were going to stay a free agent, as I recall, and now here are, nicely to heel without even quim to keep you in line."
Sirius scowled. "Maybe it's the other sort of pussy -- have you thought of that? Don't tell me another animagus doesn't have appeal."
James rolled his either. "Better that with my mates, really. What do you say, Padfoot? Shall we have a boys' night out? Not your boy, of course," he added hastily. "It would be like bringing Lily along."
Before Sirius could choke down his pride enough to say yes, James cocked his head to the side, as if listening to something, and then turned his head to the door.
"Come in, oh mortal!" he intoned dramatically, his eyes flashing as they widened and narrowed. "I feel the heat of your beating heart." His smirk rather ruined the effect.
