Barty was disturbed from his brooding by the arrival of somebody else in the shop. He looked up, hoping that Padma had returned and so would be able to let him into the back room, but he was disappointed to find it was just another customer.
He swept his eyes over her, worrying vaguely if she was anybody he should know, wondering whether he would start recognising people now. He didn't think he had known her. He doubted he had, as she sounded far too nice and normal, as she ordered her tea, to be any of his previous acquaintances. He returned to his own tea, snorting softly when he realised she had ordered the same brand he had.
