Faelan shook his head, but didn't answer right away. Having been spoiled by so many relative comforts the past few months had started to push some memories of pack life into the near recesses of his mind. The past year had been the most horrible of all, and he didn't like thinking about it. Faelan was confident that if he'd known then what he knew now, he'd never have stayed. But options hadn't seemed so clear then.
"No," he whispered. "That was over a year ago. I didn't know what else to do, so I stayed. I should have gone," he added bitterly. Living alone on the streets of Aberdeen during the month before Sirius had found him had been lonely, but better than being surrounded by people who treated him like scum because of his rank.
"I was loyal to Aylward, so I was an outcast. I'd been too stubborn in my support of him when his leadership started to fail."
