Who: Peter and Claire
What: Just two teens doing teen things
Where: Their house
When: October 6

It was Sunday, Peter knew this because he always kept track of the weekends because it meant that Monday was coming up next and well everyone knew what that meant. But Sunday meant one more day of sleeping in before the week started again and if he was very lucky then Uncle Ben wouldn't be doing yard work in the backyard, to try and wake him up at some ungodly hour of the morning, he was allowed to sleep in okay!

Which was exactly what he planned on doing then, as he rolled over in bed, tugging at the blanket to get it up over his shoulder the way he liked best when he was trying to catch just a little bit more sleep. But it was like the blanket was stuck on something and he grumbled in his sleep tugging at it again only to meet the same resistance.

He was actually going to have to give in and open his eyes, and Peter hated that, because he'd have to find his glasses and he'd have to look around and the whole sleeping in momentum would be spoiled. But his shoulder was getting cold and he wasn't going to be able to get back to sleep now, so he flopped onto his back reaching out blindly for the nightstand where he always laid his glasses only to find that there was nothing there.

"Wut?" He slurred as he frowned and sat up in bed, already squinting as he opened his eyes only to see that the nightstand was free of glasses..... wait.... see? His eyes went wide then as he realized he could see and Peter lifted his hands to his face just to be sure that he hadn't fallen asleep with his glasses on and then they'd like.... fused to his face or something, the most logical possibility he could come up with in that moment as he realized that he could see and he was fine and good and wow this is amazing, people just wake up being able to see what a li-

"Whaaaat!?" Peter squawked then when in the midst of his marveling at being able to see his new and improved eyes landed on a girl, a girl in bed with him. A girl in his bed, beside him, in bed. Sharing his bed, a girl. It was a girl. Abort, oh god. "Oh my god, oh god, oh, oh, oh, oh." Peter pushed himself back trying to gain a little distance, Aunt May was gonna kill him!

She'd been having one of those really nice dreams, where you're awake enough you can wake up whenever you want but asleep enough nothing is quite real. The kind of time you could imagine being married to Kurt Cobain in peace, until someone's rude oh goding woke her all the way up. She must have had a sleepover, or something, disorientated she pushed herself up and rubbed her face only to be confronted with. "Argh!" She cried as she scrambled backward and right into the wall.

Lifting the covers she was glad she was wearing a shirt, well swimming in it really, a man's shirt and shorts. How had that happened and she closed her eyes, covering them for a moment. Claire didn't remember Larissa stealing moonshine from her uncle again but it had happened before. When she opened them the boy was still there.

But the room, it was familiar and he was kind of familiar too and maybe that's why she wasn't completely freaking out. Claire couldn't remember where she'd been yesterday, where she was now and things were muddled, that was for sure.

Well at least Peter wasn't the only one freaking out, she moved away from him in a way that said that she'd been taken by surprise just as much as he had. And even still it didn't feel like he needed to be worried about this - she was familiar but he couldn't place his finger on how he knew her exactly, but he did - he was sure of it.

"Um." He started and stopped not sure how to do this, he could barely talk to MJ and she'd been his neighbor for years now. And here he was in bed with a girl and he couldn't even figure out how to talk to her? Aunt May was gonna kill him. He definitely hadn't asked about spending the night anywhere.

"Do uh, do you know where we are?" He asked her finally, stumbling a little but he got there in the end. "It's just my aunt is gonna freak, and I'm supposed to help my uncle on the weekends with yard work." But even as he said it he felt pretty sure that wasn't something that was going to happen.

He had a kind face, nervous even. Not like the boys who lived on her block. They were the kind you stayed away from, Claire knew better. But this boy was, wait who was he? Her back to the wall she still didn't feel scared, he didn't advance on her and she sighed.

"Home," she said quickly without really thinking about it. But that wasn't true. "I think? Wait, are we?" Claire looked around confused again. "That's not right," she murmured under her breath. "I'm Claire and you're," she looked at him again, her head tilting to one side. "Peter?" It wasn't a guess, but it sort of felt like one at the same time.

"You look different," Claire said after a moment, rubbing her forehead. "Claire," she added then, by means of introduction.

Home. She was right, even when he didn't think that was right he knew it was, he could feel it. "Maybe? Maybe it's.... I don't know." He didn't know how to say what he was feeling the words didn't want to fit right. And then she did it again, calling him by name even when he hadn't told her his name. But in the same vein he knew her name too, it was Claire, like she'd said.

"Yeah." He agreed, he was Peter just like she was Claire and yeah this was all different. He looked at himself, but he just looked the way he always did, or maybe he didn't? "Peter." He said too, because she'd introduced herself and he should too right?

"I don't understand what's happening," As much as it pained him to admit it, Peter usually had the answer to things but this was something he hadn't been prepared to wake up to. "We live together." He said after a moment, the realization hitting him suddenly, "We.... live here together." Wow. He lived with a girl. A really cute girl too. Wow.

At least they agreed. It was confusing but she didn't feel the need to like run away from him even if they were still laying in the same bed and she'd never been in a bed with a boy before and her mom would kill her if she knew she lived with one.

Well he said it and Claire let out a little exhale. "I don't either," she said and there was some fear there, her knuckles getting white as she clutched the blankets. "We live together and this," Claire looked around the room. "This is our room?" Yeah it was, her things were there but the dress on the hanger didn't look like it would fit her.

"Do you think we have cereal?" Claire asked him as she peered at the closed door. Because she was scared, but she was also hungry and it was just Peter and he made her feel a little bit safer.

It hurt his head to try and make sense of it too much, little bits of it came to him - like the fact that they lived here together, this house was theirs, that Claire was someone he liked very much. He nodded when she came to the same conclusions he had. "Yeah, yes - I think." He added because he didn't want to come across like he actually had the answers he was in the same boat she was. "This house is ours, we ... we live here alone." What did that mean for Aunt May and Uncle Ben? He frowned trying to find that answer but it wasn't coming to him, but he didn't think they'd just run away or anything like that. This was just their life now.

It was how they got here that was strange. But he didn't feel scared about it, not really, not with Claire there.

As for breakfast. "Yeah," He nodded yeah of course they had cereal because he liked cereal, cooking in the morning was the worst and Aunt May didn't always want to do it so sometimes you just had cereal of course they had some, they had to. He looked at the door too, deciding whether or not it was safe to go out there, but this was their house. Of course it was safe. "If you want I can go out first." He offered, "Check and make sure it's okay out there? And if we have cereal?" He didn't like seeing Claire look scared and maybe he was just a scrawny kid too but he could protect her.

Thinking about it was kind of like one disappointing headache, like she could make it clearer and easier, but it was hard. As soon as she stopped and focused on now not before it was easier and Claire could just think about breakfast. "Yeah, yeah we do," she said as she looked around, worried for her mom in that moment. They were supposed to be together and they weren't, that just didn't seem right.

He offered to go out first and Claire relaxed. She didn't need to be scared, this was their house and she loosened her hold on the sheets, less like clutching for dear life and more like holding them to her. "Let's go together," Claire decided because together seemed like it might be there thing.

She climbed out of bed, the large shirt she was wearing down past her knees and she raised her eyebrows at him. "Huh?" Because Peter was not about to wear that shirt and yet somehow she knew that it was his. "This is so weird," she said as she shook her head.

Okay maybe Peter had to keep hold of his pants to keep them up but if he really had to he'd have dropped them to protect Claire, but this was their house he didn't really feel like they needed to be worried about it, even if things were strange and he couldn't quite remember how they'd gotten here or what Aunt May and Uncle Ben thought about it all.

But Claire agreed they should go together and he thought that was probably a pretty good idea so he let her take a second to get out of bed and then noticed his shirt. It was his wasn't it? But it shouldn't be that big if it was his, but then his pants were threatening to fall off him so maybe all his clothes had just been replaced with huge versions of them? That didn't make any sense either, but not a lot did at the moment.

"Very weird," He agreed, but they were leaving the room together and as he poked his head out he saw what was both familiar and not. This was definitely not his home, but at the same time it was. "This way," He knew the way to the kitchen even if it wasn't quite right. "We really live here." He said shaking his head at how crazy that sounded, and yet feeling certain it was true all at the same time.

When they looked out into the rest of the house and it was all familiar and quiet, it had the feeling like she'd left it like that. There was a mug beside the couch, a blanket there and it just felt like her own. Claire could relax a little, bare feet soft of the floors as she made their way out. "We really do," she said as she looked around.

But they could focus on the strange feeling and confusion or they could just kind of ignore it and she grabbed bowls and the cereal, spoons and milk, laying them out on the counter. Peter seemed to need his hand to keep his pants on and so Claire poured both bowls and carried them over to the lounge area.

"I'm from New York," she said after she took a bite. "Hells Kitchen, what about you?"

While Peter was looking around a little bit, trying to make sense of things Claire took the time to pour them both a bowl of cereal coming to join him over by the couch. And as his stomach grumbled Peter decided having some breakfast was probably the best way to start their explorations of all of this.

"No way, me too!" He grinned when she told him she was from New York, okay that was cool, living here in this place with someone like Claire who was cool and really pretty and from New York too. "Queens." He added because she had too, and it wasn't like she was from Staten Island or something like that. He could catch a train over to Hell's Kitchen real easy. Okay he was thinking about that too much considering they were stuck here.

"This place isn't New York though," it wasn't even New Jersey, which was maybe a little comfort but not much. "You don't think we're the only people here, do you?" He wondered as he took a bite.

Sitting there with Peter on the couch Claire knew she was in a world of trouble. Because what was she doing here? What was wrong with her? Worse still she knew if her mom came beating down the door there was absolutely no way she was going anywhere without him. She sat on the couch, scooching close enough so their thighs pressed together before digging into breakfast.

"Oh Queens is nice, not so stabby there," Claire said with a snort. Queens was the sort of place you had a backyard and stuff, Hells Kitchen you just had an alley with a homeless guy and a junkie. He looked like a nice boy, not at all Claire's usual type but sitting there with him she felt safe.

This place, she looked warily out the window, she'd need to put on pants before she went and thought too seriously about that. "I guess we better check it out. You know. After breakfast."

Oh she was so close, but Peter didn't move or even try and draw attention to it, instead just tried and stay cool. Which was not exactly his strong suit, but he was gonna do his best because the last thing he wanted to do was make Claire think he was weird - well any weirder than she might already assume he was.

He laughed a little, feeling like maybe he should feel awkward about living in Queens, "Yeah, with my Aunt and Uncle." He agreed though because it was true and there wasn't anything he could do to change that.

But for now they were gonna eat and then after that they'd figure everything else out. "Yeah, that sounds like a good idea." He agreed, she was good at that kind of thing he thought, making a plan like that. "We'll figure it out. Together."
