Who: Klaus and Ben Hargreeves
What: Just five more minutes
Where: Hargreeves home
When: October 6th

He rolled over slowly, grumbling as he pressed his face into his pillow and tried to block out that press of day. He was allowed, it wasn't his day. He shouldn't have to get up first thing, dad wouldn't even notice he wasn't at breakfast. At least that's what Klaus told himself as he laid there in a fit ready to beg mom for a few more minutes when she came to get him up the way she always did.

But the longer he laid there no one came, and Klaus found that he couldn't sleep when he was wondering where mom was to get him out of bed, how unfair was that? He opened just one eye in the direction of the door and then both because this was.... not his room. It wasn't - this wasn't where he was supposed to be.

"Mom?" He called out as he sat up, looking around, it was familiar, sort of, his room, but not his room. He didn't know how to say what it was, but it wasn't home. He pushed himself up rummaging around in a pile of clothes for something to wear and in the end pulled on a robe that dragged on the floor as he pulled it around himself and then peered out the door.

First one way and then the other before he stepped out following the hall down to a room that was Ben's. How did he know it was Ben's when this wasn't their house? It didn't matter, what mattered was Ben. And Klaus pulled the door open and shut it quickly behind him the robe getting caught and tugging him back before he could open it and pull the fabric in behind him and then ran to Ben's bed shoving at him. "Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!"

"I don't think you would have got it," Ben said, poking at Klaus' cheek again because that was his new favorite past time, maybe. He didn't know why. He just liked being close, and that was reason enough for now. "The house is never empty." Not like it was here. Even now, in his room, there was no stomping in the hall or running. No giggling coming from Allison's room. It was just quiet.

Well, beside the two of them. Klaus was never really quiet.

"Kay," he agreed, sitting back and rubbing at his nose with the palm of his hand. "Explorin. That's fun. I want pop-tarts." Eggs and bacon had gotten boring.

"Probably not," Klaus agreed, huffing as Ben poked at him again, but he didn't bat him away. He liked that Ben was close, that they could lay like this and Ben could touch him. It was fun and it was comforting having Ben like this, especially with everyone else gone. "Guess Christmas came early then, you were very good this year." Klaus teased, devolving into a giggle fit over it like he'd made a particularly great joke.

It was quiet in the best sort of way, mom wasn't calling them to breakfast, he didn't have to hear Luther trying to pretend like he was in charge and keeping them in line, it was just him and Ben and Klaus loved it.

"Do you think we have pop-tarts?" He wondered, that sounded like a great breakfast to him, sure the breakfast mom made for them most days was good enough, but sometimes you just wanted a pop-tart for breakfast. But he was ready to find out with Ben what they had and make the most of this time they had to themselves.

It wasn't a particularly great joke, considering Ben was always pretty well behaved -- more so than most of the other kids, anyway. Sure, he whined sometimes but that wasn't really his fault. He had scary powers and he didn't want to use them. Him and Klaus always had it the worst, because they couldn't do fun stuff like throw knives, teleport or just be really strong. Well, maybe that was the joke: Ben being good wasn't shocking or new. So he giggled too, even if he didn't really know if he got it.

"Dunno," Ben said pushing himself up again, and this time out of the bed. His shirt was like a sea of cloth against him, the sleeves of the t-shirt going down to his forearms. "Let's find out?" He offered Klaus a hand down, even though he obviously could get down on his own if he wanted.

Klaus liked Ben best really, he got it the way the others didn't - they could all do fun things, things that were kinda cool. If Klaus could do what Allison did he'd tell their dad to never make them do lessons again, or at least to never lock him in with the ghosts again, but Allison never did that for him and he certainly couldn't. So yeah Ben was the best, Klaus was certain of that, more than he was about anything at all in this place.

"Yeah," He nodded, taking Ben's hand as he pushed down out of the bed too, his robe a little tangled up around his legs after his flopping around in bed, but he got himself sorted out after some tugging and twisting and he kept Ben's hand in his when they opened the door. And though he'd known they were alone in the house he still peered out into the hallway a bit just to double check before he was pulling Ben along with him.

"Down here," He urged, "They're gonna be here." He felt almost certain there were going to be pop-tarts, or at least things that they were really gonna like and as long as he had Ben there with him they were gonna have a great time figuring it out.
