"I think it was a crazy time and everyone was focused on staying safe and getting out." He didn't really think Bill would purposefully abandon him or Ben or anyone for that matter, but he did know how easy it would be to panic in that kind of situation and think of getting out first and foremost rather than trying to find anyone else.
He let his eyes close when Bill's fingers pet through his hair, like a particularly pampered pet enjoying the easy affection even while they were toeing their way into heavier topics.
And then Bill told him a little bit about where he was from, a war when he'd been young, his parents had fought and well Klaus knew a little bit about that kind of worse that Bill mentioned and he nodded. It helped that Bill didn't need all of it explained, that he had a baseline and even if he hadn't Klaus was pretty certain that he was the kind of person that could fill in the gaps.
"I was in Vietnam, do you - where your from have you heard of that? The war there?" There had been no magic involved in any of it as far as Klaus knew, so he wasn't certain it was the sort of thing that had transferred over, "I bounced in time, disappeared out of my life and reappeared fifty years in the past and in the middle of a damn war zone. They thought I was a soldier."
