What: Their Vegas trip turns into an Alien Attack!
Where: Las Vegas, Alternate dimension of some sort.

Peter had one hell of a hang over, and the details of the night before were more than a little bit foggy. The details of which would no doubt start filtering back to him slowly over time. But as he looked out on the early morning sunrise over the strip he frowned looking out over the horizon.

There were lights, and not just the Vegas lights, not the neon of casinos and spot lights encouraging people to come out and spend their nights and days throwing away their money, but hovering lights, that were rapidly approaching. But even that wasn't enough to really clue him in - not until the first laser beam shot out of one of the ships (they were ships!) and blasted the replica Eiffel Tower did Peter get it.

They were under attack, here of all places. Hung over and not at all dressed for the occasion. This was his punishment he thought, for what he and Carol had gotten up to since their arrival.

"Come on! Move move move!" Peter was already moving, he might not have the suit and well he might not be from here but he wasn't about to let people get hurt.

[OOC Note: Okay, this is being run as a standard party thread, just use your headers in whatever threads you start, feel free to punch an alien or run and hide, save the princess, or steal in the middle of the chaos, whatever your little heart desires. And most of all have fun!]

She rolled her eyes at the questioning, not ready to explain the crappy makeup and outfit just yet. Of course it was the tiny Peter who she spotted wearing the dress. "No idea, no time to answer questions. I'm going to take down a ship, but I don't want it landing on the city- think you can help me get people out of the way? Or at least steer it closer to the dessert?"

She waited for him to confirm before grinning. "Okay, great. I'm gonna give you a boost, just uh, hold on." She came closer, put her arm around the kid's waist and took off at high speed straight for the ship. "If I let you go, do you think you can latch onto something up here? Starting webbing loose ends up?"

Peter had his fair share of flying high above cities and whatnot--his suit also protected him from even higher altitudes (thanks, Tony), so he wasn't all that concerned. But those ships up there? That was the alarming part.

He nodded. "Yeah! Yes, yeah, absolutely." Prepared for when she released him, he shot some webbing to latch onto the highest point he could find, then turned his attention to her again. "Go on!" He called out. "Let's take it down!"

Carol was just glad the kid was experienced with this kind of thing for his age, because she wouldn't have been able to babysit him for too long. As soon as she'd gotten close, defense systems kicked in and she dodged a few shots, barely making sure that neither Peter or her were hit and punching through a gun before using her free arm to blast another.

"Okay, I'm going to take this one out. When I do, I need to let you, ready??" And once he said he was, she let go and went binary, sailing through the ship which resulted in the whole thing blowing up from the inside. Coming out on the other side left the problem she was now afraid of.

Clean up.

The ship started to come down and she swooped back around, grabbing the largest piece she could to push it toward the least occupied area of the desert she could see from this height and trusting Peter to do the same. Her eyes did travel to make sure the little spider was doing alright, using a bit of photon power to blast the ship farther out then scanning to make sure Peter was alright and didn't need extra assistance.

Peter nodded. "Yeah. Yes." And then she let go, and he was swinging through the air. The good news was that Peter Parker was good at swinging through the air. He shot some webbing out, swung around the top of a tall building, and shot more to change direction.

Once she smashed through, he was there, perched on a top floor windowledge, eyes trained on the ship in the sky. This was absolutely surreal. Probably just like the Avengers felt when the Chitauri were invading New York. He shot webbing forward to tug pieces and fling them toward uninhabited areas.

"Should I get down there?" Peter said, motioning toward the sidewalk below. "Get people out of harm's way?"

"Probably," Carol smirked, the dress she was wearing a little more torn up but she looked no worse for wear, now looking around for other debris to snatch and blast away, aiming toward a large piece. Still, this felt SO much easier when she was wearing her suit. Never go through the doors without your uniform. Yeah, like she was going to remember that one. "I'll do what I can from here and join you down there soon."

There were more ships, but she saw there were others already taking care of them. One at a time for now. Right. She could do teamwork when it was necessary.

"You need any help down, kid?"

"I'm good!" Peter was pointedly not looking at the dress hanging on Carol's body. Even if he was able to look, he didn't want to look, so a) he didn't get distracted, and b) to protect her modesty? privacy? Whatever. Peter didn't want to do or say anything embarrassing. So. No dress.

"Okay! I'll--I'm good!" With a smile that she couldn't see through his mask, Peter shot some webbing and lept from the side of the building.

To be honest, it was absolutely freeing to fly through the air and swing from tall buildings. Not that there were that many in Vegas--not like New York--but there were a whole lot more than in Starklandia.

It didn't take Peter long to reach the ground. Once he was there, he started doing his best to direct traffic, to try and waylay the bits of shrapnel that were raining down from the destroyed ship(s) overhead. It was rough work. Now Peter had a lot more respect for the Avengers who saved New York from its invasion.

She was almost sure she heard his voice crack but figured it was probably more to do with the situation with the aliens attacking a large city than another. Maybe. No time to dwell, she nodded and got back to work, clearing the sky as best she could before sweeping back down to help on the ground. All the while, she was watching the sky for any sign of another craft that wasn't already being handled.

Then she heard something...different. Something inhuman. A gargling sound that sounded like some kind of language, but that her translator was having trouble unscrambling. Turning, she saw three of them- small green aliens with large glass (?) domes above their heads. Shooting. Seriously? It was like something from a bad 50s movie.

"Of course." She muttered and then watched as one of them shot some idiot who was just talking on his cell phone and not paying attention. The man vaporized. "Shit. Pete! Spider-man! Fuck!" The alien aimed straight for Peter and Marvel quickly tackled him to the ground, just before the blast could hit him and instead blew up a car.

"They have weapons," she told him. "Dangerous once. You need to get out of here and take everyone you can with you." She got up, glaring at the creatures. She wasn't sure if those guns could hurt her, but she didn't want to find out.

Peter jumped a little at the sound--some strange, non-human sound coming from half-way down the block--and turned. He felt his Spidey-Sense tingling, the warning of something coming. And he turned to look, squinting down the block. He saw them coming along, approaching in a strange, alien gate.

Then they started shooting. Peter ducked suddenly, surprised by what looked like lasers flying through the air--straight out of Star Wars! This was insane!

"What the heck is that?" Peter asked, shooting some webbing up into the high-rise so he could bounce out of the way. "Don't you think we should... y'know... take 'em out?"

"You're human. Well, kind of human," she muttered the last bit, but quickly went on. "Those things are likely to vaporize you." Hell, they might vaporize her, but she didn't point that out. She wasn't going to test the theory, either. "I can absorb energy- so I should be fine." Maybe.

Though she might be able to use him, if... "I'll distract the one in the back. Think you can use your webbing to grab the gun from the one in the front?" She hoped he'd say yes. "You can use their weapons against them if you do. Wait, have you used a gun before?" Because if his aim wasn't good, that could go bad. Very, very bad.

This was a bad idea. She knew this was a bad idea.

Mostly human? Okay, Peter relented. He was mostly human. He definitely wasn't invincible. Those lasers didn't look like they were healthy, and he definitely didn't want to get dead.

"Yes! That's definitely something I can do." So long as the stupid Alien thing didn't have like, a ridiculous kung-fu grip on that gun, Peter could steal it. Especially if it was distracted. "Hey, I'm a master at Duck Hunt. I can handle it!"

He motioned for her to get on with the distractions already. He was ready.

"Duck hunt?" Carol frowned. "Like the video game?" Finally! A reference she got- and it was in the middle of a battle with weird aliens in Las Vegas. Of course, it was.

She nodded and got to work, running toward the aliens. "Hey!" She blasted one with a photon, sending it flying and the other tried to fire back. Carol dodged and led it closer, hoping Parker would grab the gun before it actually hit her.

Which didn't work as well because another creature did manage to hit her and she froze for a second, feeling the blast and....nothing. The alien looked shocked and tried again. Carol felt it, turning back their way and grinning slowly. And better yet, she blasted the same energy back at them, vaporizing one of the bastards and looking to Peter. "I think we're going to have an advantage, kid!"

"Yeah! I mean, it's ridiculously old, but it's still a solid game." Peter grinned behind his Spider-Man Mask. Then the action started.

Pete flung some webs at the alien's hand, attaching to the gun. He yanked it out of the alien's grasp just as Carol was shot at by the second monster-thing.

A loud, anguished "No!" escaped him and he turned to look over at his friend. But she was okay! Thank god she was okay! He held up the gun, heart thundering in his throat.

"Here goes!" And he turned the gun on one of the aliens. It was a lot harder to shoot one than he thought it would be.

The alien vaporized and Carol looked up at Peter, relieved that he was alright and that it worked! Yes! She grinned and started blasting the things, using whatever energy they shot at her to get them back, and coming a bit closer to Pete so she could block any shots aimed his way. It was working, and the bastards were finally starting to retreat.

From this area, anyway.

She took a second to catch her breath, turning to him and nodding. "You should head for the doors, take the gun with you. I think we have them on the run."

Peter only took a couple of shots at the aliens, as the first one missed and hit a building nearby, and the second went into the ground. These aliens were living creatures, and Peter wasn't a killer. Even with his life in jeopardy... it was hard for him to make that kill shot.

Anyway, Carol was taking care of it. Peter shot some webbing and stole away two more of the aliens' guns while they were focused on Carol--the much more powerful threat. He started up a collection of the devices, maybe Tony could use them for something.

"So long as you think everyone's safe now!' Peter said, with a gun in each hand and one tucked under his arm. "Is there anything else I should do??"

Carol had noticed he was kind of avoiding shooting the creatures, but she didn't press. She definitely didn't want to be the one to tell him he had to kill anyone, even if she'd been conditioned to shoot when necessary (and with what these assholes were doing to innocent people, it seemed necessary).

They were running, at least. Unarmed and against a thread they had no idea how to handle, Carol was grinning widely and nodded to Peter. "Yeah, I don't know if safety is the right word." She muttered and looked around.

"Go round up civilians. Make sure people are okay or getting help if they need to be treated. I'm going to follow these guys back, maybe I can find a leader and knock some sense into them."

It was probably irrational. Peter wanted to be a protector of the innocent, and these alien guys were definitely not innocent. But he was still having a hard time crossing that line.

Anyway, she was doing much better. He didn't need to worry, she could handle taking out the bad guys, and he could help with clean-up.

"Yes, Captain!" Peter said, lifting a hand to give her a salute. "Be safe, okay? You know how I worry." It was 98% teasing, because he knew she could handle herself.

Then he headed down to the street to continue working on civilian protection and support through the end of this mess.
