Who: You! If you wanna be there!
What: Their Vegas trip turns into an Alien Attack!
Where: Las Vegas, Alternate dimension of some sort.
When: The next day

Peter had one hell of a hang over, and the details of the night before were more than a little bit foggy. The details of which would no doubt start filtering back to him slowly over time. But as he looked out on the early morning sunrise over the strip he frowned looking out over the horizon.

There were lights, and not just the Vegas lights, not the neon of casinos and spot lights encouraging people to come out and spend their nights and days throwing away their money, but hovering lights, that were rapidly approaching. But even that wasn't enough to really clue him in - not until the first laser beam shot out of one of the ships (they were ships!) and blasted the replica Eiffel Tower did Peter get it.

They were under attack, here of all places. Hung over and not at all dressed for the occasion. This was his punishment he thought, for what he and Carol had gotten up to since their arrival.

"Come on! Move move move!" Peter was already moving, he might not have the suit and well he might not be from here but he wasn't about to let people get hurt.

[OOC Note: Okay, this is being run as a standard party thread, just use your headers in whatever threads you start, feel free to punch an alien or run and hide, save the princess, or steal in the middle of the chaos, whatever your little heart desires. And most of all have fun!]

So, there was an alien invasion going on. That was different. Hel, it was practically exciting, considering how dull everything else seemed to be lately and Loki thought, well, it might be sort of fun to just fight for the sake of it. He had no stakes in this battle, didn't care much about what happened or didn't to this Alternate Door version of Las Vegas but --

The Eiffel Tower exploded in a bang of bright lights and he Loki simply watched from a nearby roof where he'd decided to take a seat and see how things were going to go down for a bit before joining in. He was cleaning underneath his fingernails with a dagger and wondering where, exactly, his brother had gone off to.

Maybe some good could come of this. With a little bit of scheming, of course.

Loki didn't care for this world or it's people, but Nyx cared for all people and all worlds. Oddly. Now Nyx was tired. The thing he was able to learn about Vegas was that it was easy to spend the entire night away. So, that was what he ended up doing. He was awake for far too many hours. Though during the swallowing of cheap casino coffee while standing on the strip, he became painfully aware of the now sudden invasion. People were running past him in a panic and his eyes went to the sky.

An airship? That was odd. With a casual tip in his head he held his coffee watching the airship move about. Then a flash later and a brilliant explosion, Nyx's eyes shot wide as he watched the structure known as the Eiffel Tower explode.

It was an attack. Instinct took over as the coffee was dropped and he went reaching for one of his blades. Gone. Not with him, because why would he bring his weapons on a vacation. Looking around he spotted an officer trying to help people get away. Nyx ran up. "Weapon." He ordered. The officer looked at the gun in his hand then to Nyx. "Not that, THAT." He pointed at the baton on his belt, which the officer reluctantly handed over. Now with something to throw, Nyx started pumping the club with magic and threw it far allowing him to start his warping about. One warp chained with another as he caught the weapon till he was high in the air near the flying attack vessel. Feeling himself float for that brief second before he started to fall, Nyx willed as much power from the ancient magic that pumped through his body, and fire balled the hell out of the ship.

Watching his magic tear the floating vehicle like paper, Nyx started his fall aimed at a building, which he came in quite hot. Landing hard he rolled to his feet with a grunt. Then his eyes looked to the smoldering club. Well, that was short lived. Tossing it aside he glanced up seeing Loki just relaxing. Blinking some he pointed. "Loki." Yup, Nyx was puzzled you could say. "Not fighting?"

Nyx and Loki had very different moral compasses indeed. It wasn't like Loki wished death upon anyone (currently). He just ... wouldn't have felt particularly bad if it happened, was all.

He wasn't wholly disinterested, mind, considering he was squinting up at the sky when Nyx called out to him -- and the other man looked a bit on the tired side, maybe but was clearly involving himself in the fight.

"Not not fighting," Loki countered, although he hadn't really done anything yet. He blinked down until he was standing next to Nyx and gave him a second glance. "Where are your weapons?"

Hands on his hips, Nyx smirked at Loki. "Well, you're also not not not fighting." Nyx countered with a little coy tone. Regardless if he was going to kick it up into gear or not, Nyx wasn't going to judge Loki on it.

"I mean, I get it." He shrugged as he reached down and tightened his boots some. "We're not all fighters." Straightening himself up he looked at his body like his weapons might suddenly be there. They were not.

"Oh right. Yeah. Back home." Nyx said with an annoyed tone. "With their size and lethality, I figured it would be difficult to holster them while in city. Most law enforcement disapproves of it." Doing a little bit of stretching, Nyx followed up with. "Just magic for me tonight, but these week Earth weapons can't seem to channel the magic through it as well."

"Now that's just convoluted," Loki said with a bark of a laugh. He planned on kicking it up into gear, most certainly. He'd simply been waiting for his brother to show before he did so -- it was a personal mission he was on, was all. But perhaps there was no harm in having a little fun first. "And slightly insulting. I see what you're doing there. See if I help you with a properly imbued weapon now that you've unleashed all that sass."

Loki was rightly amused though. Nyx never failed when it came to saying something slightly amusing. This was the man who'd told Loki to table world domination, after all.

"How are you with a sword?" He asked, waving away some falling rubble -- literally, forcing it to move its trajectory from hitting either of them.

Nyx laughed. "Never said I made things easy." He countered as he watched some of the events start to unfold. Shifting his weight some he glanced to some people hiding from aliens down below. Keeping his eyes peeled, he paid little attention to the debris that Loki was already taking care of, before glancing back. "Ohhh. So you can't take a dig?" He frowned. "And here I thought you knew how to roll with the punches." Nyx teased before glancing back down. The aliens were growing closer before his attention was brought back to Loki.

"Sword?" He shrugged. "Well enough. Little large and bulky than I'm use too, but it'll get the job done." He glanced back down. "Well... hold on." Shifting his weight so he was leaning over the edge, he conjured a fireball in his hand, and threw it straight down at the aliens. Direct hit. Explosion. People were saved.

Then back to Loki. "Sorry. You were saying?" Okay, Nyx thrived in this situation.

Loki rolled his eyes, but didn't seem unamused. He could take a dig. If he couldn't, he most certainly wouldn't live with Thor who was much better at shoveling out attitude than most people would ever give him credit for.

"Never mind," he said with a sniff before he teleported directly behind one of the aliens who had apparently decided its' odds were better out of a ship, and put a digger right between it's shoulder blades.

Loki was not the sort to fight head on, if he could help it. "You seem to be managing well enough without."

While Loki maneuvered and vanished to reappear to take out an alien with definitive ease, Nyx only could raise his brows. So the man could fight. He had suspected it thoroughly, but it was nice to actually physically see it.

"Aw." Nyx muttered with a smirk.

"It's alright. I can make do." He hoped as he approached near where Loki was. "I appreciate you considering helping." There was a shrug. "I wouldn't want to disarm a friend for my own needs. I'm sure I can find something I can use." He looked about. How hard could it be?

Well how hard should it have been? Nyx had just been lobbing fireballs around. Which was a pretty great weapon, Loki thought. He did it now and again, himself.

But he really did look like he was searching for a weapon. So Loki frowned, at him. "It's no hardship. Here --" He 'ported again, reappearing directly in front of the man who was quite possibly a friend, even if that was a strange concept. "I've got rather a few," he admitted before handing over a set of sharp daggers. "I'd like them back, if possible."

With the new daggers in his hands he shifted them about and weighed them in his hands. They'd do quite nicely. Twirling about and looking at the blade he shifted and threw one straight into an oncoming alien's face through it's visor and then warped to the weapon fifteen feet away. Pulling the weapon, he examined how the magic danced across the weapon.

"These will do." Nyx commented as he returned to Loki. "Appreciate you taking a moment to help a man out." Then he wound up and threw the weapon as it spun through the air. "Well, Loki." He turned for a moment. "Keep your head down." There was a devious smile. "But I best be going. These people aren't going to save themselves."

And again he was gone in the blue particles

Finally.

Thor wouldn't ever wish anything terrible on anyone, especially a whole populated city but this was something where he could possibly help people and that was something he'd been wanting to do very much. He needed it, in fact.

He'd wandered into a building that resembled a castle and was called the Excalibur. It was where that show was that boasted the Thunder from Down Under name. Thor thought it clever and possibly devoted to him because they were all of muscular build and the whole 'thunder' name. It was a stretch, but Thor wasn't always known for his sound logic.

After obtaining several drinks, he heard the explosion outside and immediately ran out. Yes, there was an alien invasion going down and they'd just blown up some sort of wiry looking structure. "Brother!" He called out to Loki, who just happened to be there. He knew Loki hadn't summoned this alien army. Much as his brother loved tricks, he'd been without resources to do anything of this scale. Unless it was all a trick.

"Is this an illusion, or are these people truly in peril?"

Thunder from Down Under being devoted to Thor was indeed a stretch, but that didn't mean there hadn''t been nice things to look at there too (maybe, just maybe, Loki had had a similar thought earlier and checked it out himself -- but there was no lack of interesting things to find in this city). Still, this was infinitely more interesting.

Or, Loki rather hoped it would be.

Mind, he was perhaps a little less inclined to do good so to speak, so much as take this invasion for what it was: an opportunity to stretch muscles rarely used lately.

He smiled though, when Thor appeared. Really, that was what he had been waiting for. "It's no illusion of mine," he said. "And I doubt highly Copperfield had anything to do with it."

The male dancers who put on the show were very fluid in their motions and Thor had been entertained. He thought several of them could have been good enough to participate in such entertainment provided on Asgard. Well. Formerly Asgard. He was not sure their people would have shows like that at all anymore.

He couldn't help his people right now but this? He could help the people of this brightly lit city and that was exactly what he intended to do. From what it could see it looked like a handful of other Thortopians were throwing themselves into the mix as well.

"No, I would not imagine the Field of Copper man could conjure something as elaborate as one of your schemes, much less an alien invasion," Thor agreed. He'd gone to that show too to see if he was a sorcerer like Loki. He wasn't, but Thor had made a big deal out of it just to piss off his brother.

"I shall defeat them. Will you assist me, brother? Or would you rather watch me in all my glory?"

Comparing Copperfield to Loki was an insult beyond measure, frankly. All tricks from sleight of hand and no real magic at all and Loki would more than happily give his opinion on the matter if asked. Of course, Thor absolutely knew that. If it wasn't their job to go out of their way to be obnoxious asses to each other, Loki might actually be mad about it.

But now wasn't the time for that. Now was the time for something much better.

"Why ever would you think I'd let you have all the glory, Brother?" He asked, gaze as sharp as his smile and both were nearly flirtatious even as he plucked a second knife out of thin air. "I bet I fell more than you before it's all ended."

Of course Thor wold make comparisons. It was one of those things written into their brotherly code. Bitching, poking, jabbing, stabbing, all of it was just.. mostly signs of love in a way that was unique to them. If they evert stopped paying attention to each other, that was when there was cause to worry.

Thor snorted in laughter at Loki's comment. "You think you can best me? I highly doubt that." They were both highly skilled fighters but they had a very different style of going about it. They'd both been itching for something like this, for reasons that were their own, and now they were being allowed to stretch their legs so to speak.

It took him a moment of holding out his arm but eventually Storm Breaker found its way to his hand. He started to channel lightning down from the clouds through he axe and his body. "Come brother, let us see how many we shall take in victory!" He called before he flew up and brought the force of his power down to where a gathering of the aliens were trying to charge at a building, obliterating them all.

"I know I could best you," Loki corrected smartly. It probably wasn't so -- everything always depended on how a fight was being conducted to know whether or not it would be Thor or Loki who came out on top. Technically Loki might have been more powerful. But not in combat.

Thor though -- when he was on, really on, it was something spectacular to see. And Loki had to stop himself from really taking a moment to admire how good his brother looked when he was being confident in his skills and not sulking and skulking around their house. Loki smiled, a secret crooked little thing.

But then he was bursting into action as well, teleporting here and there, his daggers plentiful and well aimed. These aliens didn't seem particularly highly skilled by they were large in number and their weaponry had the potential to be dangerous if anyone was caught by it.

The two of them had different styles of fighting, which was probably why if they ever got their shit together and fought for the same purpose, they'd be unstoppable. Loki had abilities that went far beyond what Thor could do, and vice versa depending on the situation at hand.

Thor was in his element now. If ever there was a reason for him to be arrogant, it was his ability to rush into battle and actually make shit happen. Even if he'd failed to kill Thanos, he'd taken down plenty of his army. Before that, years ago, he'd gone into battle for the most foolish of reasons at the Jotunheim but he'd dealt plenty of damage there too. He didn't know how to navigate his grief, but put him in battle and he knew exactly what to do.

As Loki assessed, Thor was doing much the same. No, these aliens weren't physically very strong but their weapons were definitely lethal. He'd managed to counter some sort of energy ray with a bolt of lightning but he was sure if it had hit a person they would've been obliterated. "Loki, have you seen this race of beings before in your travels? I have not," he called out to his brother. He dove downward in in a burst of lightning and took out another grouping of them.

This would be good for Thor, Loki knew. Or already was doing good. At least in the moment -- Thor moved fluidly, confidently. He knew what he was doing and there was no doubt in him at all.

Loki would use this image later for more than scheming, and felt very little shame in that thought.

Where Thor charged in, Loki did the opposite -- he teleported, he melted into the shadows and appeared from other ones, nearly always going for the element of either surprise and backstabbing rather than facing the invaders face to face. He wasn't wholly opposed to it, but it wasn't really his style either. Some might call it dishonorable -- Loki simply called it smart.

"Never," he shouted back before teleporting himself to his brother's side. "They look like a Midgardian stereotype." Which was curious.

Thor found it very strange that in all their centuries of living, all their time spent traveling the realms, they'd never come across this species or race of beings these creatures were. They weren't really all that intimidating; they just had powerful weapons and they had a habit of shouting at each other in a crude way. Surely all those who were fighting them had faced far worse.

He wanted to find a way to end them; to take out the source but he wasn't sure where that was yet. That wasn't usually his play. Someone else tended to figure that out then told him what it was and he used his power to destroy it.

As Loki came to his side, Thor found himself feeling another surge of adrenaline. He liked this; he was born for this, even more than perhaps he was born to be a king. And fighting beside Loki was what he had always wanted more than anything. "They are ridiculous, but persistent. And seem to be very angry." Thor took his eyes off the scene unfolding before them to look Loki up and down briefly. His adrenaline was sparking more within him than the urge to fight. Another verb starting with the same letter came to mind. "Let us finish this. We are the most equipped to do so."

Loki'd seen a lot, and it was a little weird he hadn't seen this race of being before either, but it wasn't unheard of, he supposed. He'd been around but Asgard itself wasn't exactly a hub for travel.

But really, it didn't matter all that much. They were invading and that was generally frowned upon so Loki and Thor would take care of it and everyone else could say they helped later. The brothers wouldn't demand credit.

If only because they would be very occupied elsewhere.

It wasn't like Loki missed the way Thor was looking at him. He smiled, sharp and a little predatory. "Let's," he agreed, twirling a dagger. "After you, dearest."
