Well, at least she was alive. The amount of embarrassment that was coursing through her however, made her question if it was worth it. Great, just great. It was a brand new Steve for her to impress and she had gone and almost drowned. She was off to a great start.
But then she realized he had taken his shirt off and...ABS. Despite her near-death experience, both from drowning and embarrassment, she found herself being pulled up on the bank by the most beautiful visage she'd ever seen. Was it just her or was there sunlight pouring out of the trees, haloing him as he helped her stand. She couldn't tell if it was real fatigue that made her fall against him, her hand brushing against him as she caught herself against him.
"Mprsphf." It wasn't really a word and Kate swallowed to try again. "Yeah...other than dying from embarrassment." She looked up at him, a kind of dazed look on her face.
"Uh...thanks." She had a steel grip on his arms now and it felt like she was holding onto boulders.
