Re: Alpha Peter / Super Guy
He nodded in agreement. "I know what you means," he said honestly. "I wasn't very comfortable in the spotlight." Ironic, sure, considering who he was now. "I was kind of terrified, honestly. Of sticking out too much. Even if I wanted to be like the other kids." He studied the sea of people hopping and gyrating about them. "You want so desperately to be one of them," he said distantly, "want to be part of it all, but..." He grinned though maybe it was more a grimace. "What if people saw something they shouldn't?" He shook his head. "Put together the little things you tried so desperately to hide." He laughed. "Or worse, you just made a fool of yourself."
Clark scrunched his face. "High school kind of sucks." Even if, in the end, it got better for him. Once he'd convinced Pa to let him try things. Like joining the football team. They'd been so scared he'd hurt someone or lose control and that somehow they'd take him away and do God knows what. From time to time, he got a taste of normal. Maybe it was that taste that gave him the courage to step out with the cape and use his gifts for something that mattered. He grabbed himself a drink, grabbed another and handed it to Peter. "Here's to dancing like there's no one watching," he said, "that's a thing, right?"
