Sparkles / Iron Deficiency Man
Thor wasn't very good with metaphors. He was so much more the type to just sort of say exactly what he was thinking (or sometimes without thinking at all), and that was just it. He sometimes had to back pedal, and that often got him in trouble, but he was who he was. False pretenses weren't his style. That said, he'd sort of been living behind false pretenses for a while now. It was only partially intentional. He didn't want to deceive anyone, he just didn't want to deal with what he was feeling. There was a difference, sort of. Mostly.
If Stark had asked him, then yes, he would have given his answer some thought. That would be one of the few exceptions to the rule of leaping before looking. And if he didn't think about it, then his words still would have come straight from his heart the way everything else did. It would've been honest, however blunt it might be. That was Thor.
He took a moment to let those words resonate. Fix the immediate, figure out what came next. So what could he do to fix the immediate back home? Kill Thanos. Apparently that was already on his agenda, according to what Natasha had said. Find the rest of his people who escaped with Valkyrie and Korg. That probably would be the next step. Finding a new Asgard, yes. All things he could do. It made sense, but that was the thing about PTSD. Plenty could make sense, but the slightest thing could send you spiraling and logic answers no longer really made any sort of impact until it wore down enough that words could reach you again.
The metaphors were going to fizzle out. Thor just didn't work that way. He could try to keep up with it if he wanted but he was worse at it than Tony and that meant he had to be honest. He didn't want to be. He didn't want to feel so desperate, either.
"What if it's your fault?" He asked, jaw tight and muscles rigid. "You're the leader, the one everyone looks to. You had the chance to make it right, to help everyone, even people you've never met. What if it's your fault when everything falls apart?"
