Oh yeah. It was definitely one of those metaphor conversations now, and Tony had to tread lightly because he was actually very bad at them. He wasn't -- great. With people. He could charm and schmooze better than most in social settings but saying nothing and sounding great was a lot easier than saying something and coming across as credible and caring and not a hypocritical piece of shit. Or something.
So, he gave the question the respect it deserved by really thinking about it, really thinking about how he dealt with things like that instead of giving some false and easy platitude.
He thought, if nothing else, Thor would do the same for him.
"Well," he said slowly, "I'm a mechanic and a futurist. It's in my best interest when things are going really, really wrong, to stop and take stock of my situation and to think about what I can do, what I can fix right now that will be best for everyone in the long run. " Which sounded ridiculous, probably but it was true.
