They'd been getting to know each other, intimately so and it had been second nature to use protection. Not because they had to but because that's just what Steve was used to. Then he'd started thinking about it, how Tony felt bare around his fingers and how much he liked seeing a little bruise left by his mouth on his shoulder and how much he wanted to claim him in another intimate way.
It felt so good to be back to himself and Steve breathed in deep, right into the bottom of his lungs and there was no crackle, just air in and out. Tony looked over his shoulder and Steve's face softened, reaching out his clean hand to cup his cheek. "Always," Steve said before he leaned in for that kiss.
He wrapped his arm around Tony's chest, holding him as they kissed slow and deep. It didn't detract from the fire in his stomach, how much Steve wanted him it only added to it.
