Who: St. John Allerdyce and Clair Temple.
What: John is out getting things.
Where: Somewhere in town.
When: Sunday evening.
Rating: Low.

John was out getting a few items from Kitty's place to make her more comfortable in his own home. These past days, where they were ill and nursing each other back to health was probably very good for each other, and their relationship. If you couldn't handle your other half at their worst and they were at their worst, was it destine to go anywhere? Well, they hadn't killed each other, and they took care of each other. John felt safe that Kitty was in it for the long haul, and truly, that made him happy. Still absolutely sick, but fucking happy as he could be.

Pyro was making his way through town at a steady pace, not quick because he was still rocky on his feet, but he had a backpack over his shoulder of things from Kitty's. It was tough. His body was weak, his fever still was firmly in place. He was just happy he wasn't puking his brains out anymore. A little stagger and a stumble Pyro managed to catch himself but it caused him to halt in his progress. He was doing so well. With a sigh, he held himself up some. In comparison of earlier in the week, he felt bounds better so he was incorrect about what he had, but this virus or illness was brutal. Feeling the presence of another person near him, he glanced. "I'm good. I'm not dying... just.." He took a deep breath. "Just regaining myself a bit."

Pyro took the person in. He didn't recognize her. "Hey. You're new here." He laughed. "Shitty time to show up."

"Well aren't you a gent," Claire said with a roll of his eyes. "What a noble reason to pass out in the street 'things' surely no one else was capable of fetching, you're a real hero." She sighed as he refused help. He wouldn't be the only stubborn one around and Claire was pretty sick of superheroes, her own Spider Idiot was out pushing himself too far as they spoke.

"You're going to need more than stitches if you keep calling me 'Nursy'," Claire said cheerfully. He staggered and and Claire glanced up at the sky, looking for a little strength.

But she was a little worried he might fall face first onto the cobblestones and knock himself out, so Claire followed. "Your girlfriend, she sick too?"

John turned and walked backwards from the woman. "I'm a bleeding heart." Then he spun back around walking towards the direction he was traveling. Who the hell did this woman think she was? One thing he didn't need right now was to be bothered with his comings and goings. Especially by some new person. Pyro didn't travel out to help just anyone. Just one person.

There was a weak smirk. There would be a whole challenge, and mentally John would be tempted to tell her he'd leave her a charred remains. Though, that wouldn't be very Christian of him, and ultimately he was giving a good old fashion try on not torching the world. Being good was hard, when villainy was so easy. "Nursy fits."

"She is." John confirmed. "That's why I'm out, and she's in."

Men. It wasn't simply being a superhero that made you some kind of idiot, it was also being a man, they all had that in common. John's girlfriend seemed the reasonable sort, seeing as she wasn't out wandering around burning up and staggering. "You're something," Claire agreed.

Claire knew she was helpless really, when it came to all these people and what they could do. But after being tortured by Russians and coming here and caring for all these strangers who needed her, well she didn't have it in her to be afraid of them. It was all surreal and left her feeling like she was indestructible because it couldn't be real. Until the pain in her broken ribs reminded her just how real it was. "Faaaaantastic," she said with a sigh.

"No, she's in and you're out because she's the smart one," Claire corrected as they walked. "I should check on her."

She was the reasonable one, by far. She was the one who told John no, but John being John did what John wanted. There was a moment where John wanted to retort something terrible, but he just let that one go. No need to rock boats to heavily. She was the nurse.

John stopped on his own when he noticed her own pain. "Oi." John pointed. "You're one to talk pot? My name is kettle!" He shook his head. "I know that look. I've been on the receiving end all to frequently to know what hurt ribs looks like." John shook his head. "I'm dying, you're living. Go home and rest those ribs before you hurt yourself more." John sighed and continued walking before stopping.

Kitty wouldn't allow him to ignore her in pain. Turning back. "You at least have them wrapped right?" John asked mostly annoyed at the topic. Frowning and sighing. "If not, I have supplies back at the house you can use." Pyro scrunched his face. "After you look Kitty over."

It wouldn't be the first time a sick person refused her help and walked off in a huff. People didn't like to admit they or someone they cared about weren't well and there was usually very little good in chasing someone like that. John called her out on her ribs and she shrugged a little. "Can't really rest ribs. As long as I take it easy being up and around is fine. I start to ache if I stay still too long."

She laughed then, not mean, more surprised, like of course he pretended not to care and then couldn't walk away from someone who was hurt. "I've got them wrapped, Doc," Claire said with a nod. "I could use an X-ray but last time I checked there wasn't one around here."

He agreed to have her check his girlfriend, Kitty and Claire started walking again. "You and Kitty both from the same place? You arrive here together?"

It wasn't that John wasn't acknowledging or admitting that he was ill, or that Kitty was ill, because they sure the fuck were quite ill at this point. The thing was, John wasn't about to let this illness take her from him, and he wasn't about to let her go out in her condition. So, he was out. "Valid, but you shouldn't be running and chasing some jackass down with those ribs." John rolled his eyes some though.

X-rays would be good, but slim chances for that in the now. "Well, at least you have wrapped, Nursy." John mentioned with a sly smile.

"We did not." Pyro said grimly. "I think I arrived first, then she did. I think she's pretty much the only other person I know left here." To be honest he wasn't quite sure on that. "But we are from the same place, just different timelines." It was weird. "I think she comes a number of years after I died." John glances to Claire for her reaction, but then also followed. "Back where we're from, we were enemies. Funny how things in a pocket dimension changes things."

Claire understood that compulsion, they were both sick but he was out getting her what she needed because he cared more about her wellness than his own. It was stupid, but in a way it was sweet. It was also something Claire would do, file away her own needs in order to care for someone else, although that was often something women tended to do, especially caretakers. "I wasn't running, you're moving slow enough I could probably cartwheel," Claire said with a roll of her own eyes.

"This Nursy can nurse herself just fine," she said because obviously there was no beating him only joining.

She'd heard that, that people came and went and Claire couldn't help wonder if she might go just as she'd come. John was blasé about his death and Claire, well death was something she had a lot of experience with. "Looks like you got a second chance, not many people do. Lucky much?" She said with a little smile.

Absolutely the most ridiculous things he did for this girl, but this was tame in comparison. After all he took a knife for her on their first outing, which she stitched up. This was light. "Conserving energy, so I can strike." John lied. "I'm like a cobra." With two fingers he made a motion like a cobra striking out. "Very dangerous..." John muttered. Okay, currently not very right now.

There it was, she at least accepted the name at this point. "Well, even a nurse needs a nurse on occasion." Pyro glanced over some.

"Something like that." John muttered, but it did leave him curious how long it would last. This place was so tempermental, that who knew how long he'd be around before he'd just up and vanish. God forbid Kitty vanishing. That was probably worse than death. "Let's be honest, who knows how long that'll last." John pointed out. "I could be dead again tomorrow."

He looked about ready to fizzle out and need carrying home, which Claire wasn't about, but if he was lucky she'd find someone to do it and not just leave him in an arrogant pile still refusing to ask for directions. "Yeah you are, I'm terrified, quaking, shivering in my boots," Claire assured him.

Probably she needed a doctor and a modern hospital, but failing that she could look after herself fine. That was the thing with ribs there wasn't much you could do, just keep an eye out for a punctured lung and take it easy.

"We all could be," Claire said with a little shrug. "I don't really understand this place, I guess all we can do is deal with the here and now." Maybe living like that was the best way to be and they'd be better for it.

Glancing down and back up. "I can tell. Quiver any more, you'll lose em." John rolled his eyes. He was fine. This was going to be fine. "You'll see some day, when I'm not.." John paused thinking of a different word. "Lazy. Yeah, there we go. Lazy.." There was half a chuckle before he coughed a bit.

"Well, dead at least has an ending." John stated. "This place though. Often enough people just vanish." Looking over to her, John continued. "Just poof. No answers, no good byes, just fucking gone." He sighed some. "All their stuff remains, but no answers regarding how or what." Rubbing his face some Pyro muttered. "We don't even get to know if they returned home or not."

Claire rolled her eyes as well, it was a roll-off. "Yes, yes, what an incredibly lazy cough you've got there, sounds really healthy." But he was an adult, she could give him a bit of a hard time, tease him some but you couldn't actually force people to take care of themselves, no one knew that as well as Claire did.

This place was clearly the gift that just kept on giving and Claire didn't like the sound of that, of no answers and no goodbyes. "Aw, it's just like a deadbeat parent then, fun," Claire said as she adjusted the strap of her bag over her shoulder. "I guess that gives you the freedom to think what you like then, imagine them somewhere they'd prefer to be. You know, like the religious and heaven."

Looking insulted, John gasped. "How dare you call my cough lazy. What did it ever do to you?!" Of course, he was sick, but the game of cat and mouse, well, fuck it. "Besides. I've been trapped inside for days. I needed to get out or I would lose my god damn mind." Besides, it was much safer for him anyway. With Kitty's abilities all wonky and such. He just ran risk of torching things on occasion. Which was truly fine. Kinda...

With a glance up John sighed. "Exactly. We just never know. People are just gone as quick as they appear, and who knows where they end up." Which worried him the most. If he was sent back to his time, would he come back just simply dead again? Zombie? Or alive? What would happen. It was truly unnerving for Pyro, and he'd just ignore all the positive talk from the nurse. Being sick, thinking he was dying from Legacy, he'd just rather get back to Kitty.

"Lets change the subject. How'd you break your ribs? Ran into a door?"

As much as she played at nagging people, telling them what was best, Claire wasn't about forcing the issue. Being a nurse was about more than knowing best, it was about helping people and you didn't always do that by being the bossy expert. "A little oxygen can only help."

The talk on death and vanishing didn't do wonders for Claire's anxiety, but she wasn't too attached to this place yet. No one here really knew her and she was finding her place well enough, but she still was far from feeling at home. Then again she wasn't dead in any times she knew about.

"Good guess! Yeah, I'm learning my way around door handles," Claire said as she lay her hand protectively on her sternum. It was all too easy to summon the image of the man with the bat and she'd seen enough of his face in her head to last a lifetime.

It really was never about if she was right, wrong, or anything else. John was John and he did what he wanted majority of the time. This was also a prime example. He wanted to make sure Kitty had the things she needed, and it was prime time for him to get out for a minute.

There was one thing, the pair agreed on. THe anxiety of the situation. How people just showed up or vanished on a whim, and the random gifts that showed up on occasion. This place was truly a strange and unfamiliar experience.

Walking up to a house with something in the range two dozen lawn ornaments, Pyro looked to Claire. "Well, this is it. Not much to it, but it's home." Well, home away from home.

All the houses were much of a muchness, comfortable enough but bare. If she stayed and found the time there were things she might like to do at Peter and Miles' house but she'd cross that bridge later and in the future when they looked in the mood to discuss decorative pillows.

Homes were just walls, it didn't mean much to Claire, who'd live anywhere because it was mostly where she went to sleep between shifts. Or to stitch up some idiot in a mask. "I guess I know what to get you for your birthday, Lawn Gnomes it is," Claire said with an easy smile.

"Lead the way," she said as she nodded toward the door.
