"Of course we do, we're miraculous and amazing," Claire said as she quickly shrugged it off. It had been a while, a good long while since she'd been on a date or anything beyond a drink and then going back to someone's place. But just because she hadn't met anyone worth meeting again didn't mean that she didn't get looked at plenty, even in scrubs. The last thing she'd thought would be on her mind while she was here was that, but, maybe there was just time on her hands and she found herself wondering a little as she lay there at night.
Claire laughed, her head falling back as she did. "That's it, that's exactly how this goes!" She exclaimed. It sounded like he was inviting her to stay and they'd figure that out, if she did or didn't or moved close by. They were tired, had been busy and there would be time for that if she didn't wake up and realize this was all a brain injury or coma dream.
Her bruised face was yellowing as it healed and she traced the scabbed split of her bottom lip with her tongue. "Thanks, you know, for bringing me home like a stray," Claire said with a little smile. Looking after people was her job and she was always going to do it, but he'd given her his clothes and blankets and that was far more personal.
