"Yeah, a little bit." She shifted behind the counter, leaning her elbows against it, her cup ready and waiting in front of her face. "I mean...like you said. For the good of the town, right? We kinda just focused on that while the, uh, borrowing happened." She took a sip, almost reminding herself why they had done it in the first place. Right, this. It was worth it.
This was the first time Kate had heard of someone believing why they arrived; she had just assumed they had all been pulled here for the same reason. "Why do you think you're here?" she asked, giving him a quizzical look. "You don't think Thanos just," she snapped her fingers. At least, that sounded like the most talked about story so far. But there had been other people arriving, people that didn't know ANYONE, so maybe there was something else at play. Who knew?
"Wow, living the big life, huh? Must be nice." But she smiled when she said it, imagining what it might be like to sit on top of the Empire State Building like it was no big deal. She thought she was pretty cool for hanging out on the rooftops of California, watching the sunset over the ocean.
"Yeah, there's nothing really that big here," she said. "Unless you count some of the trees in the woods. But I don't have cool spider tools like you to get up there." No, she'd have to do it the old fashion way of climbing and that didn't sound up her alley. At least not right now.
