Peter | Kate :: Coffee
"Isn't that every Spider-man?" she asked, referring to the title he gave himself. "I thought that was like...your slogan or something." Maybe this Peter Parker was her Peter Parker. Not hers exclusively, but you know...like in her world.
Peter seemed to have a knack for rephrasing her observations that made her feel more assured that her thoughts weren't completely stupid. He helped clarify the probable reason for them being there; it wasn't the known outcome, but still a good probability. "Yeah, exactly!" She just grinned back, happy there was someone else here that might be able to understand her and her intentions. Sometimes words were difficult.
"Oh, so you're Buzz Lightyear now?" She grinned, totally picturing him with a covered purple head and the large white spaceman outfit. Too bad there wouldn't be a Halloween here.
She would have joked about his worries about the door, but he seemed to actually be nervous talking about it. "Well, you aren't missing much," she said. "I mean, it's been weird. And so far, this has been the best find. I dunno if I could go back out and find anything as good as Bessie here." She lovingly caressed the espresso machine. "Well, I guess more espresso beans, but I've already put the word out. I'm hoping someone will walk through the door and go 'Look what I've found!'" She gestured towards the door, as if tempting fate to give her what she wanted.
And of course, it stayed closed.
Kate's shoulders slumped. "I'm having another cup. Would you like another?"
