Who: Nyx and Loki.
What: Nyx is checking on his friendemy Loki. With soup.
Where: Loki's place.
When: Recentish?
Rating: PG:13 for Loki anger.

Nyx had a container of piping hot soup in his hands. The town was sick, sicker, and incredibly sickly. So many people were down for the count and no answers on where this came from. Tony's whole house was down for the count, except for him. Loki was down for the count, and he hadn't checked on Ritsu yet. He'd have to make sure the kid was doing alright. Carol hadn't answered yet, and if she stayed radio silent, he'd have to make sure she wasn't burning a hole through her bar. That was counter productive.

One friend at a time. First up was Loki.

Traveling through town was quick and very uneventful with everyone practically down with this strange flu. It was unsettling. To such a degree, he quickened his pace some. Not that the town was all that large. When approaching the place he knew Loki was staying, Nyx took a moment to consider his options. He looked at the phone device and thumbed his post that Loki responded to. Typing out a quick response he approached the door. Stab him. He wasn't going to expect that. Who would stab the delivery boy? That's just ridiculous. Stuffing the phone in one pocket, and then knocking with that hand he called out.

"C'mon Loki. Open up."

Loki did not appreciate this house call even a little bit. That it was his own fault for even saying anything on the network posts was the only reason he wasn't wielding a set of daggers when he opened the door. Well, that and because it'd literally taken all of the strength he had to leave his (very locked) bedroom and make his way to the front door.

Well, he had a little strength left. Just enough to give Nyx the most intimidating glare that he could conjure up on his too-pale features. "I said no," he said, as if it mattered anymore at this point. The man was already here seeing the mess that Loki would never have willingly allowed the world to see. It was impossible to avoid when his magic and illusions were failing him. "Yet, here you are."

The door opened, and Loki looked like a mess. But Nyx ignored that. Didn't even let his eyes linger long enough to truly acknowledge his appearance. "You're right. You said no." Nyx responded with a droll tone. "I obviously have an authority problem." Shifting his weight from one foot to the other he shoved the soup into the man's hands. "And I don't make a habit of ignoring friends who happen to need an assist." Nyx shrugged with a look that just said for Loki to get use to it.

"What else do you need? Books? Magazines?" Nyx would make an effort to make Loki's dealing with this, vaguely more comfortable. Nyx though, worried he wasn't going to get the answers he wanted very easily.

"I'm not authority," Loki snapped out, even though he knew it wasn't his finest retort. He took the soup that Nyx shoved at him with hands that were trembling slightly, and it sloshed unpleasantly around in the container it was in. Loki only looked down at it, like he had no idea what to do with it.

Nor did he exactly know what to do with the information that Nyx considered him a friend. That happened only rarely. But apparently it was cemented in Nyx's brain and no amount of arguing would change his mind. Well, not currently. Loki had no doubt he'd ruin it eventually, but today probably wouldn't be the day. "Well," he said, a little too miserable to even pull up a proper resistance. "now I have soup." Thor would probably eat it. Loki was fairly certain he'd vomit if he so much as attempted it. But. Maybe the thought was -- kind.

So he just held onto the soup and wobbled in place for a moment before exhaling. "I don't really need anything more." Although a new book didn't sound awful.

Welp. Nyx didn't peg Loki to be a baby when sick, but he wasn't about to make fun of him for it. When you were ill, it was the rawest a person could be. Your everything was bared to the world, and Nyx didn't think it was fare to attack a man while he was down.

So Nyx remained professional.

"Now, you don't seem like the type to get ill often." Nyx pointed at the soup. "Don't eat it all in one go. Just use it to keep nutrients coming in, and calories up. It's mostly broth, which is better than solids." Nyx shrugged some. "Also water. Sips, nod drinks."

Then he offered a smile. "And if you need anything, let me know. I'll try to make it happen." He thought for a moment. "Blankets? Pillows? Books?" What else did he have on hand or find easily. There wasn't a lot of options after all.

Loki wasn't being a baby. He was, however, exceptionally out of sorts. Beside feeling ill, his magic and inherent talents weren't working (at least, not properly, or consistently) and it felt something like what he imagined missing a limb would be like. To not be able to properly be himself was -- beyond disconcerting. And Loki had very much told Nyx not to come here. So. He was damned lucky he kept that judgement to himself.

"Gods aren't meant to get sick," Loki said a little drolly even as he stepped into his house more and gave a little nod that said Nyx could follow if he so felt inclined. He settled the container of soup on the kitchen island and leaned against it, attempting to look casual, but it was mostly just so that he could manage staying upright. "I do know how eating works," he murmured. "I appreciate the -- gesture." It was unlikely in any circumstance that Loki might have done the same, and he wondered if Nyx was aware of that fact.

"I--" he considered it for a moment. "A book would not go amiss," he decided. "I prefer midgardian horror, if that's an option. And --" He looked a moment, toward the direction of his Thor's room. "My brother is feeling poorly. If you knew where to acquire Pop-Tarts, I would be very grateful."

"God?" Nyx perked a brow while following the man in. "I'm not so sure I've actually met a god before." There was some consideration. "Well, one that can speak. I mean Carbuncle hangs out around the house and town, but he's just a little fox messenger god." There was a smirk. He'd see if he could get the little fox to come pay Loki a visit. Carbuncle was cute enough to make the angriest person smile. "Though I suppose, not being use to illness does make it jarring. I wish you the speediest recovery." Nyx offered the man a kind smile.

Regardless if the gesture would have been returned or not wasn't the point. It was the right and nice thing to do. That is why Nyx did it.

Taking mental stock, Nyx nodded. "Books for you and.." There was a pause. Pop-Tarts? "I will see if I can scrounge some of these things called Pop-Tarts up. I'll ask around."

Loki only lifted a shoulder at Nyx's questioning -- because now wasn't really the time for theological debate -- not that he was really doing that, but if it got down to it, Loki simply wasn't in the mood. "You've spoken to me," he said instead, "I don't know what a carbuncle is, however." Loki did tend to like foxes, however. He inclined his head vaguely over the acknowledgement of how shit life was this week, and the wish for it to get better. That was -- hm. He'd take that. That was fine.

"Thank you," he decided, and it wasn't like he never thanked people, but it was a bit foreign on his tongue. "They're a midgardian breakfast food. Little squares with filling inside. Only if it's no trouble. He will live with or without."

Nyx pointed at the god. "Valid. I have spoken to you." He half laughed. "Well, Carbuncle is a deity from my world. He's mostly a messenger god, but I don't know why he came here to me. I just sort of accepted it." Glancing of to the distance and then back to Loki when he was thanked.

"You're welcome." Nyx offered a bright smile.

"I am not familiar with midgarian or midgard or anything." He acknowledged politely. "So, it might take me a little longer to find the things you're requesting." But he would figure it out. It was the least he could do. "It's absolutely no trouble at all!"

A messenger god without a message. Loki thought it curious but wasn't in the mood to consider it much more than that. Maybe later. Later, he might be more interested in meeting said god. Nyx didn't seem all that worried anyway -- he was just an accepting sort, apparently.

Well, maybe Nyx wasn't familiar with too many Midgardian things, but Loki had it on good authority that the guy knew what a blender was, so how hard would it be to find some shitty breakfast snacks? He didn't know, really, because Loki thought they were pure garbage. "Wonderful," he said, leaning a little more on the counter and propping his chin up with a hand. "Now then. I have my soup and you have a mission and I --" he tried considering, tried making his words more kind, but sort of failed. "I'm very tired. Please leave."

Nyx let out a laugh as he raised his hand as a farewell. "You are absolutely correct, I should be on my way. Please be sure to rest, Loki." He started towards the door before stopping for a moment. "Truly, please rest. I'd hate for a friend of mine to grow more ill because he pushes himself too hard." Nyx looked back to the man and smiled. "I will find you horror novels, and Pop-Tarts for your brother."

Raising his hand in a wave a second time, he ventured towards the door and out of it. "I'll check on you again soon!" And he was out the door shutting it behind him.
