Who: Natasha Romanoff & Clint Barton
What: Hanging out through the doors, doing a little adventuring.
Where: New York, New York.
When: 1983, but also currently.
Rating: Probably low, will update if need be.
A big city was still a little bit of a sensory shock after the last five years of living with everything in the world so entirely halved, but that hadn't diminished Natasha's excitement when today, the doors had opened to something that looked and felt familiar - though no offense was meant to Snowpoint City, she'd had a great time in Snowpoint and was really fond of the still-nameless Vulpix that had come home with her. Still, there was something specific about New York; there were a few places scattered around the world that she had fondness for born out of sentimentality, Iowa and Budapest, Belarus and Wakanda, and New York was on that list. Both the upstate part near the compound with the trees and the lake, and the city itself. There were a lot of place that had felt at least a little bit like home.
When she and Clint had decided to check it out, it had pretty quickly become clear that it wasn't exactly New York, not the way either of them knew it: weirdly, the buildings and some street names and a little bit of the layout was different from her own version of the city, though it seemed to track for Clint, and a quick glance at a box that sold newspapers - like the existence of that wasn't a clue in and of itself - informed them that here, it was a very lovely autumn day in 1983.
"The hairstyles maybe should have also been a clue on this one," Natasha told Clint as a woman what had to be the most enormously exaggerated teased-out perm she had ever seen in her life strolled blithely past them. And Natasha had seen a lot of things in her life. The bangs alone had to have taken at least half a can of hairspray to maintain that height. "You know what - I think I'm going to run after her, I want to get the name of her salon so I can swing by before we head back. I could use a new look."
