When: Sunday Morning
Where: Coffee.
Status: Incomplete
Rating: G

While there were many things he missed about home, but one thing he didn't have to worry about, at least, was coffee. Well, usually. Caffeine didn't do much for him--the hazard of Kryptonian physiology--but he enjoyed the bitter taste especially with a flavored creamer. Lately, though, he'd been up pretty late. The universe, in all its wonder, had sent a gift his way: a super-powered dog. And, like most dogs, he required a lot of attention in a new place. So, last night, he spent most of it tuckering him out so Krypto would sleep.

With a bit of a yawn, he stood in the small line and waited for his order to be taken. He was glad, though, that Krypto was sleeping. He just hoped that he'd be able to stay out of trouble. When he awoke, there were a few new creatures out. God, he hoped Krypto remembered to keep his calm. Luckily, he was friendly and merely wanted to make friends and he wasn't as intimidating as some of the other dogs he'd known growing up on the farm. Slowly but surely, he was becoming comfortable with the world around him. While he'd gotten used to the idea that he might not get home soon, he knew he needed to put more effort to become a presence. Make friends.

Wanting to try something new, he chose a blended drink because why not? There wasn't much to do in this village. Might as well experiment this way? With his drink, he took a seat at a table and pulled out a small notebook and began to scribble down his thoughts. Doing so often helped him clear his mind.

Mara had slowly been settling in to this place. It wasn't that bad once you got your head around the situation. It didn't mean it was any less odd and she doubted it would never be anything but odd. She had started to reach out to a few people, to try and form some friendships and cultivate them, to appear as a person who hadn't grown up untrusting of everyone. She'd got so used to acting she wasn't exactly sure who she was any more. She supposed she would eventually figure it out.

Making her way to Coffee, she ordered herself a latte as something new to try and looked around for a place to sit. Spotting someone she didn't know she watched them for a few moments before deciding to approach them. "Hi I'm Mara, do you mind if I join you?" she asked.

Clark had been distracted that he almost hadn't heard Mara when she spoke. There was a distant expression on his face and he scribbled. It used to get him in so much trouble with Ma. She always used to say, "If you spend all that time in the stars, you'll never see what's going on right here on earth." Later in life, the irony of that statement was... Well, amusing to them both. He offered the young woman a broad smile and chuckled.

"Sorry," he said, "I was a bit distracted." He stood up as midwestern gentleman did and motioned for her to have a seat. "Feel free. I was just getting my thoughts together." And he took a seat, extending his hand in greeting. "Nice to meet you, Mara. I'm -" Pause. "It was Mara, right?"

Mara nodded, "It is fine and yes it was Mara," she replied as she took a seat, taking the offered hand. He was polite which she appreciated but perhaps a bit too polite? She was used to rough and tumble and people who thought for themselves first and foremost. While it was a refreshing change it was odd. "What were you working on?" she asked curious.

This was just a chance to gather information, to try and 'get to know someone' as it went.
