Who: Thor, Gamora and Peter Quill - all MCU
What: A meeting for two and someone hating it
Where: COFFEE
When: Thursday
Rating: Low - just spoilers probs

So this was coffee- Gamora loved coffee. She'd never had a job before like this, usually her jobs consisted of traveling across the universe and attending to things for her father. So it wasn't something she had any kind of experience in, a job serving people wasn't something for a warrior. But Clint had explained coffee to her, showed her the machine and made her a cup and it was love at first sip.

She'd been excited to show Nebula right away. Coffee was great.

There wasn't money here, but Gamora hated to be idle and so she could work here at COFFEE and make it for people. Well people and herself.

Some people there seemed to know each other and Gamora was surprised how many people her sister knew. For Gamora everyone was a stranger and she wasn't exactly friendly, her default expression was so often blank or a resting displeased face. She carefully placed the last mug onto the drying rack and reached for a towel to dry her hands as someone entered.

"Hello. Do you want coffee?" She asked because Clint had said 'what do you want' didn't sound very nice.

Upon his banishment to Midgard years and years ago, Thor had been introduced to the greatest beverage ever next to anything with alcohol in it -- coffee. He'd been given a mug of it in what he'd been told was called a Diner, and drank it down with much merriment. He'd also learned in that outing that the smashing of cups was not a thing people often did on Midgard. That being said, he greatly enjoyed the hot, brown beverage. Caffeine didn't really do anything for him but oddly enough he just drank it for the taste. Like people who drank it without the caffeine.

That day, he'd decided to venture out to COFFEE, and maybe get one of those fancy ones they made now to take to Loki before he left because, well, Thor thought he might appreciate the fluffy stuff Barton put on top. And if he didn't, then Thor would just drink it anyway.

As he entered, he heard a woman's voice and looked up to see a face he recognized. Thor had seen that some of the Morons he'd encountered in space were now in Thortopia, but he'd not made it around to see any of them yet. He probably should've, seeing as he was the mayor. Maybe given a little tour. Well, maybe there was time for that at some point.

"Why yes, thank you, m'lady," he said. Thor, daft as he was sometimes, did know that even people he knew that were there might not know him. Gamora -- he knew was her name -- didn't show any signs of recognition so he doubted she'd seen met him in her time, else she probably would've been more excited to see him. "Welcome to town," he said. "You've not been here long, have you?"

She hadn't really taken the time to look at him, but there was something perhaps familiar about his voice and she nodded slowly. "Only a few days," Gamora agreed as she placed a mug in front of him and filled it carefully with coffee. Maybe Terran's did have something worth having, Gamora thought coffee was great. "My sister is here, we are in the house beside of her friend Stark."

Then she placed him and remembered Nebula had told her there were more of them here. "You were at the death of Thanos on earth," Gamora said. "You're the Son of Odin. I am the daugh-" there she paused and for a moment was at a bit of a loss and cleared her throat. "There's accompaniments here for the coffee. This is cream this is sugar," he explained as she pushed them toward him.

For so long it had been her identity, Daughter of Thanos. Now he was dead and she remained as what? Weapon? Deadliest woman? "I am Gamora," she said because that was simple enough.

Thor did not know Gamora's sister, though he'd learned that there were a number of "children" Thanos claimed as his own. Another was there, in town? So long as they didn't cling to Thanos' ideals then it wouldn't be a problem. The Gamora he'd met certainly didn't, and he'd not judged her even for a moment when it'd been revealed to him who she was. Why would he? He knew what it was like to have family connections that were less than honorable, and he'd told her as much.

"I attempted to cause the death of Thanos on Midgard," he said. "I missed." Thor hadn't seen her since he'd left with Tree and the sweet rabbit in space. It sounded as though she'd seen more. Thor had learned from Natasha that he'd killed Thanos, but didn't think that was what Gamora was talking about. Though she seemed to know who he was, it didn't really fit that it'd taken her that long to put his face to not even a name, just a title.

"I have met you, in my time," he said. "I spent time with you in space, though it was brief." Thor took the coffee black and started to drink it. "This is very good."

Gamora was confused for a moment before she realized that he, like her, was from a time different from the others. It was confusing and Gamora worried about the implications of that, when people moved around like that, if they left this place where might they end up? There would be time later to worry about that, when she wasn't responsible for COFFEE and making sure people were pleased.

"We did not meet in mine," Gamora said. "It is complicated." She knew that there was no future Gamora, Thanos had seen to that and strangely it made her a little melancholy to think about at length. Besides he had come here for coffee, not the story of her death.

"Coffee is easily the best thing these humans seem to have come up with," Gamora agreed as she reached for her own cup.

He'd heard she was making coffee at COFFEE and since Peter hadn't been there yet (hell, he'd never even had coffee before in general) and because he was a glutton for punishment when it came to staring at Gamora all while his heart sat in his throat, he figured now was about time go to check it (and her?) out.

He was busy staring at the sign when he walked in, all bad paint and clearly handmade -- Peter decided it was rather charming, all when put together with the general set up of the place -- little tables and chairs that were mismatched but all about the same size, a little condiment bar by the far wall, some truly goddamned bizarre art on the wall. And of course, Gamora who was perfect and exactly who Peter wanted to see and ---

"Oh man, no."

"Verily, I would agree," Thor said. He'd found Gamora to be pleasant, and certainly someone deserving of his respect when he'd met her. She'd voiced who her father was and in turn, Thor had shown her understanding when it came to rather complicated family connections. He knew what it was like to have a father who did some less than honorable things. Of course, he thought Thanos was far worse than Odin, but he still got it to at least a certain degree. There was a base level of understanding there, and he most definitely did not fault her for it. Especially since she wasn't doing his bidding when he met her.

"Complications, I have found, are well discussed over a cup of coffee," he offered. Thor was kind of a dolt most of the time but sometimes he came through pretty well. Usually when it counted and especially lately after everything with Asgard and Thanos.

As he was about to offer to speak more of those complications should she need someone, another townsperson entered the establishment. Thor glanced behind him to see that guy who liked to imitate him come in.

"Ah, greetings Moron," he said. "I'd almost forgotten you were taking residence in Thortopia."

It was difficult not to like Thor, he seemed amiable and he was a fine warrior. Gamora respected him, knew of him and admired that which she did know, he'd fought well against Thanos and had killed him once, which she also appreciated especially after what he'd done to her. So she'd have gladly had coffee with him, but the door swung open and that's right she was here for more than just drinking and talking.

But it was just Quill. Not that she wasn't glad he was there, Gamora had actually started to take comfort in his thereness. His lingering glances could be maddening but his fondness for her was just so foreign it was kind of nice.

She'd nearly stopped clenching her fists when he got close to her.

Gamora snorted at Thor's greeting, turning away to fetch a cup for him and filling it carefully. "You two have met then," she said as she slid the cup toward Quill. "Thor says he and I spent time together in space."

It might have been difficult to not like Thor, had the guy not just shown up on his windshield one day and become the fan favorite of every one of his crew members all while being unconscious still. He knew, objectively, that Thor wasn't really a threat to whatever it was he had going on with Gamora --

Or, well. He knew that Thor hadn't been a threat to his and Gamora's thing back then, but this was a different Gamora and maybe this Gamora would want a man who looked like a Pirate and an Angel had had a baby together. Who knew?

He offered Thor a look that hopefully conveyed all of his feelings and had to remind himself that lowering his voice to sound more manly wouldn't work any better this time than it had last time.

But god, he really wanted to.

"No one calls it Thortopia," he said, because he'd only been around a few days and even he knew that. But then Gamora was giving him coffee and he sort of got distracted because it was such a simple gesture but he loved her for it anyway. It was difficult being so romantically inclined, honestly. "Oh --uh. Yeah. You met once. It wasn't a long thing. Mostly he stole our food and space pod and half our crew and then left." There'd been more to it than that, but Peter wasn't feeling generous.

Thor had never been a threat to whatever existed between the Moron and Gamora. In truth he didn't even know anything was there in the first place because he'd not really been there long enough to notice and he'd been plagued with a lot of other things on his mind for it to really occur to him that he might be perceived as a threat. Gamora was a beautiful woman, a fierce warrior and absolutely his type. But Thor had been far too removed to even consider something like that at the time. And now? Well, now, his heart laid elsewhere, and really, it always had regardless of who he might've been with in the meantime.

"Everybody calls it Thortopia and those who don't have been misinformed," Thor said, as though it was something everyone did in fact do and he was thoroughly convinced of it. "And not that it matters but Tree and the Rabbit were greatly inclined to go. I did steal your food and your space pod, though, that much is true. But seeing as it was for the greater good of getting to Nidavellir in order to forge a weapon strong enough to--" He stopped short for a beat. "To get the job done, I'd consider it a sizeable donation on your part."

Quill was acting strange, stranger than usual and she raised her eyebrows at him. "I'm sure we were happy to lend it to him, right Quill?" From what she understood they were the Good Guys, they'd saved the Universe and surely that meant helping Thor as well. Although the fact half of their crew had gone with him must have been hard for him and maybe that was why he seemed tense. Gamora respected Thor and while he was obviously pleasing to the eye and they could probably have come to a mutually beneficial arrangement in the right circumstances that wasn't what was happening.

"We like coffee," Gamora said perhaps to distract him. "You can put this or this in it, to make it creamy or sweet," she said as she indicated the little jug and the bowl. "I think it might be the best that Terrons have to offer us," she said as she lifted her own cup up to take another sip.

Aw, man. Peter twisted his lips into something of a grimace but reigned himself back, just a little. Because Gamora was apparently the voice of reason -- well. She always kind of had been. "Yeah," he said. "We sure were." But he hadn't been. And maybe if they'd all gone to Nivadwhatever their chances against Thanos later would have been better. And Gamora -- his Gamora -- would still be alive.

Not that he could blame all that on Thor, even though it might have been nice to have someone to pint a finger at.

"Speaking of sizable," he said, even as he put more sugar than was probably strictly necessary into his coffee. "You're looking quite a bit more fit. Did you have a training montage?"

He was pretty sure Terrans had more to offer than coffee, but at least Gamora was finding stuff she liked, even without his help. He had to admit, she looked god behind the counter. Cute. Like, he hadn't known it was a thing he was into, but he could definitely find a way to fantasize about this later. "Thanks. For the coffee."

Thor knew the Moron was making that up, probably for the sake of Gamora which he found entertaining. Maybe he'd seen reason and conceded that it was indeed the best option at the time. Thor would likely just choose to believe that because it made the most sense in his brain.

"Are you asking because you're requesting my services to help you train? Because I assure you there's no way you could keep up with my training regiment." He chuckled, probably a bit longer than necessary, before he finished off his coffee in a quick swig. He wasn't one to savor if he could just have another. A little gluttonous but he was a god.

"How do you prefer your coffee, Gamora? Creamy? Or strong?" Yes, he was jabbing a little at the Moron but it kind of came naturally.

The two of them clearly had some kind of problem with each other, or maybe not a problem but they were competing as men so often did, for no good reason. Gamora's eyes very well might roll right out of her head. Quill thanked her and she smiled at him, giving her shoulders a quick shrug. It was her job, but she'd been extra careful pouring his cup.

She was sure that Thor's training would be intensive, he looked different than the last time Gamora had seen him, fitter and more confident. "You must train very hard," Gamora observed with a little nod. "I'm sure that I could keep up."

Gamora knew Thor was messing with Quill and maybe she couldn't help missing with him as well. "Strong," she was quick to answer. "Of course."

"Uh, nuh-huh-huh no," Peter said, a little on the side of over the top, but look, he couldn't seem to help himself when it came to Thor, especially when Gamora was also involved. If Drax wanted to think the guy was hot, that was totally fair and he wouldn't have even been wrong.

But when Gamora chimed in? That's when everything sort of when to shit where Peter's behavior was concerned. He got dumb for absolutely no reason at all, and even though he knew she was joking, poking fun at him, he still just went from zero to sixty in no time at all. "Coffee's got nothing to do with how many sit ups you can do or how many circles you can run around stuff. And c'mon man you were straight up tubby, you don't get to make fun of my --" he waved in his own general direction, his abs and whatnot. "My this!"

The most entertaining part of all this to Thor was that he really didn't feel the need to compete with Quill. But after engaging with him on his ship it'd sort of become a game. Quill just kind of naturally fell into a role where Thor felt it was his solemn duty to keep him on his toes and jab at him here and there. It was mostly harmless jest. But it was also funny as hell seeing Quill get so worked up about it. So much so that Thor found it impossible to stop.

He raised an eyebrow, unsure of what the tubby comment was about but just wrote it off as nonsense spouted off by the Moron in a desperate attempt to best him. It was cute, really. "I was more making a reference of you being soft in nature, but I can see it went over your head." He set his empty mug down. "And indeed, fair Gamora, perhaps we can train together sometime. I'm certain you could keep up, perhaps even best me. You can bring him along; we can modify the training for him."

Peter was clearly riled up by him and Gamora found it a little amusing how easily Thor got under his skin. She ducked her head to huff out a laugh, hiding it as best she could. "Peter is right, you look great, like you're feeling more yourself," she said.

It was hard not to play along and Gamora, well, she wouldn't want to ruin anyone's fun now would she? "A training partner is always welcome," she agreed quickly. "What do you say, Quill?" Her eyes were warm and she felt light with how new and different it was to talk like this. There was no fear, no duty, simply a joke with people who knew her and didn't fear her.

He couldn't believe how this had gotten flipped around so ridiculously. He hadn't been the one to get out of shape in order to need a stricter regiment. And yet here they were, and now he couldn't back out because Gamora was smiling and that was exactly the sort of thing he wanted, even if it was at his own expense.

"Yeah, sure," he said, puffing up a little, shoulder pushed backward because that's how one looked more intimidating, apparently. "I can do it. You won't even need to fix anything. I'll keep up. Of course I will. Don't be silly."

He would not be able to keep up. But that wasn't the point.

Thor had thought this conversation had gone quite well from his standpoint. Quill was an entertaining fellow and good for his ego, which at this point in time needed a much bigger boost than he was letting on to anyone. He felt pleased with himself. Gamora was a strong, fierce warrior who Thor thought would match up well enough with him in terms of getting some training in. And Quill, well, Quill could try to keep up and be decent enough company. His impressions of Thor were endlessly entertaining.

"Of course you will," he said, with a bit of a shit-eating smile on his face. "Of course." As his gaze shifted back to Gamora, the smile turned more genuine. "I must thank you for this Midgardian beverage. I quite like it and will undoubtedly return for more of it and your company." Thor had found her fascinating before, and would like the opportunity to see her more often. Especially since it tended to get a rise out of Quill. "I shall take my leave, but no doubt our paths will cross soon, for coffee and for training." He gave her a respectful nod. "Until then." He then looked at Quill and smirked. "And a good day to you too, Moron."
