"That's not a thing where you're from?" She asked, surprised when he said that people didn't get to do what they wanted, just serve a purpose. That would be hard, sure Barbara did a lot of things that she didn't really always want to do but it was more than just serving a purpose, she wanted to be Batgirl, she wanted to wear the cape and help people and keep her city safe.
She wasn't surprised that he went with a similar answer - it was easy to make that be your sole focus, to put getting home above everything else. Maybe it wasn't wholly practical, but she wanted to go home - and she wanted to find a way to be able to do all the things that she knew she needed to back home. But as long as she was here none of that really mattered.
Considering what he said about being a Sith, Barbara frowned just a little as he told her that the Jedi didn't acknowledge emotions, "How can anyone not have emotions though? That's what makes us human." It felt silly to try and cut yourself off from something like that. Her fears and her doubts were difficult to overcome at times, but in the end those things helped to make her stronger, to push her to be better and braver and more willing to do what was necessary.
"So if you're a Sith, and not a Jedi why do you have one of those?" She asked as he took the lightsaber back after he'd let her examine it just a bit more, testing out the weight of it and the way it moved as she moved it slowly back and forth. Admittedly Barbara wasn't really much for weapons herself, she had her batarangs but beyond that she worked with her skills.
