Angst? Barbara's eyes narrowed when he suggested that and then that she had been abandoned recently with a look on his face that was anything but kind. "I haven't been abandoned." She said scowling at him. "I've been pulled from my life, the same as everyone else here has been." Sure there was the loss of Dick and Jason too, but that was something else entirely, and they hadn't abandoned her - they wouldn't. Even if Jason had been mad at her, he wouldn't have just left her there.
She didn't want to talk to this guy about it though, about the boys or about home or any of the things that weighed on her so often. And instead she found him tossing her the thing he'd reached for earlier, without explaining what it was or what it could do. Part of her was tempted to simple try to use it, but she wasn't an idiot. God she wished she'd brought the cowl with her, she could scan it, maybe get some readings and figure out what it did. "What is it?" She asked instead, turning it over in her hands a bit, getting a feel for the thing and avoiding what looked very much like a button along one side.
"Purpose?" Yeah she hated that suggestion, like she had no other purpose than to take care of something. She found herself silently fuming, she didn't want to get into a fight with him, when he was clearly trying to get a rise out of her, or something. she didn't know - but whatever he was trying she didn't appreciate it and getting herself worked up over it wasn't going to stop him or make her feel any better so she took a breath instead.
