Barbara was not convinced at his suggestion that it was not stealing, especially not when he approached the register and did something that had the girl there pausing for a moment before agreeing with what he'd said. It was eerie in a way that reminded her a little of things she'd run into in her past.
"Uh huh, right." She said doubtfully, not to the person at the register, but instead to him. She didn't take anything, she didn't need it - and unlike some of the others in town she wasn't in the habit of taking things she didn't need just in case.
Her eyes narrowed when he mentioned getting into more trouble, well he didn't say more, but Barbara was certain he was getting into trouble right here and she jogged after him as he went, just to try and ease her own conscience.
Outside glanced in the direction of his pointing expecting to see planes or something like that and instead saw ships, and she shook her head. "No," She told him. "Those are boats, they're for traveling by water." It was strange, he didn't seem to be totally lacking when it came to understanding of technology but he was missing a couple of things, she wondered about the world he was from.
"What did you do to that girl back in there?" She asked with narrowed eyes - because of course he'd done something to her, she wouldn't just agree that their stock was to be taken without payment otherwise.
