There was something in John that wanted to go about this differently. Considering his life of crime and terrorism really hadn't left much room for him to chase to much romantically or even personally. Frankly, what honor among thieves was very few amidst the company he kept. Sure some were more friendly, like Blob, but the rest it was just... business. So this left John wanting to do better, possibly be better? Was that a thing he could truly achieve? Pyro was fighting his own demons around this, but what he did know for fact was this. He wasn't going to wait to wake up dead. John smiled to mask his own worries on the topic.
When Kitty agreed that they should just let things come naturally, there was a nervous pang on what that could mean. Hell, he wasn't sure what it meant in himself yet speculating what it meant for Kitty.
The way Kitty watched him, made John feel exposed, which in turn made him want to double back back into himself. It was absolutely a defense mechanism, that he was happy to have, though with Kitty he would give his good ole college try on not doing that. Kitty was surprised? Try being Pyro, and you'd be equally surprised. He'd blame it on his notion of heads first into things. Not wanting to overthink things and just enjoy the now, especially since she was also enjoying time with him. That was a bonus right?
"Well." John smiled. "Don't read into it too much." His hand gestured towards how he was dressed. "This is just a facade. I'm still just an villain on the inside." John muttered quietly, which is how Pyro saw himself. Internal demons and all. The pair of them, they fought for the same things, just in different ways. Hers was much more diplomatic that was for sure. "Well, we're cut of different clothe." John confirmed. "But ultimately I've enjoyed this second chance, if we call it that." John let his gaze fall on Kitty's face, taking her in, all her slightest features. "This is just like a vacation from the real world that sucks. Can we just sort of... stay on it?"
