She smiled when he agreed easily that they'd have more fancy evenings. He was right about this place giving them nothing but time for things like that, whether it was fancy nights or something a little less involved. But a small part of Kitty wondered just how much time they really had here, if this was it - they were here forever so they had all the time they wanted or if it was going to be a more temporary thing and they'd be shunted back to the lives they'd once lead. For her the school and the X-Men and for him ... well that was much more complicated. "We'll have to make the most of it." She said instead of letting those worries out just yet.
"Yes," She agreed when he suggested they just do what came naturally, that could be asking for trouble maybe, but so far it hadn't lead her astray. "I think that's probably the way we should do things." Both just living in this place, but also here just the two of them. Whatever that meant they could figure out together in time as it developed.
Kitty toyed lightly with her glass, as John spoke, though her fingers were moving her eyes were on his as he admitted that he liked spending time with her. It was a kind of honesty she hadn't expected of him, not tonight at least, the sort of thing that might come in time, yes - but for him to open up like this here and now? Well Kitty was surprised, but in a good way. "I've been enjoying spending time with you." As surprising as that might have been just a month ago, it was true. She had a good time when they spent time together, even when he was in a mood, they still managed to find their way around to a good time.
"I like you, like this." She told him, not just tonight dressed so nicely with dinner laid out and wine, but just open with himself, letting her see who he really was and not just the guy with the fire. "I've been doing the X-Men thing for so long now, it's easy to forget that we're all just you know, people, mutants. We're not all that different the way it can seem sometimes. This isn't really what I'd have chosen, being pulled here to this place, but I'll admit it's nice to not be pulled into some new crisis every other day, to just ... breathe for a little while. And spend time actually getting to know you."
