Normal circumstances would have been him just calling her to let herself in, but in this instance, it was the presentation he wanted to drive home completely. Though her reaction was a little expected. He was wearing a tie, to impress. But then she was focused on his injuries. Oh right. Those were a thing, and much more obviously disastrous than his tie.
Carefully he let her examine his wounds, and take note that they were tended to appropriately. "It's worse than it looks, I promise." Though at the time, he was spurting blood all over the place previously. Though the what happened talk would have to be a topic discussed in a less formal manner, he thought. Once he felt she had plenty of time to take in his injuries, he ushered Kitty through the door so he could close it. "Well, I went on adventures for everything you see tonight." With that he held his hand out toward the spread and the what one might call a romantic dinner.
Bringing Kitty to the table, and allowing her to sit while he poured the wine into the wine glasses he had gotten on his second go at the doors that previous day, he started the tale. "Well, I had to go through the doors, and it wasn't a very fun time." Finding his chair next across from her, Pyro shrugged. "Marvel followed through the door I went through and got caught up with my whole disastrous situation. We ended up going through into some sort of alien prison. Restraining collars limited and all but took our abilities away. In that, we both got roughed up pretty bad, but we managed to escape..." He wavered a bit on his words. "Mostly intact." Sipping at the wine, John sighed.
"After I made sure, Carol was secure and not going to kick the bucket, I cleaned up a little and went back through the doors." He pointed at a lot of the items. "This stuff was needed for this dinner I wanted to put on for you. So I went through again, but landed in like a small town and I took the time to do a few things. Got patched up by a doctor, hinting why I didn't call for you, and got a bunch of things for tonight, and some things to pay Carol back for the wine we're drinking tonight." He smiled at Kitty propping his elbows on the table. "That's my extremely boring tale."
