She was so small on his shoulder, he couldn't help but think that she might just be a fairy for real. But fairies weren't so clever, and didn't get big again, so. Probably not.
"Apparating is more short distance stuff," Sirius admitted. Not too short, but he was pretty positive he wasn't getting to another country, let alone another world. So. Yeah, no, he couldn't do that.
"Sounds like you've got good friends," Sirius said, sounding suddenly sullen and sad. Because -- it reminded him of his own. He and James had been ready take on anything, once upon a time. Now he was dead, apparently. Right along with Lily and Peter. And Sirius wasn't really -- he hadn't been able to figure out how to cope with that yet. Maybe he never would.
He glanced over his shoulder then, watching the people on the streets watch them even as they stepped into the store. Weird looks, he thought. Too open. Too interested. And these weren't the same ones as from a few blocks before, either.
"What?" He asked, not having been paying attention. "Oh. Dunno. Twenty or sommat?"
