Kitty just smirked a little as John made a face at her, she wouldn't poke at him too much but she definitely thought the Grinch comparison could actually happen despite his rough exterior. She laughed when he smiled and even managed to look proud of himself for earning the head pat. Of course it all devolved into eye rolling when he teased her about extra credit. "You write me an essay on the Grinch and we'll talk about extra credit." She told him primly.
He was definitely in a better mood now than he had been earlier, that much was obvious. And truthfully that had been Kitty's goal all along, to get him to let go of some of that anger she'd been sure he'd been feeling and instead turn what could have been a miserable maudlin night into one that could maybe be called sort of good.
What she hadn't expected was for him to get to his feet suddenly with the command that she keep drinking, so she took another pull, the burn was less severe now, more of a comfortable warmth after she'd had several, so it wasn't any sort of challenge to have more before he was back taking the bottle from her and instead trading her a box of CDs. "Oh wow." She grinned hugely peering into the box and flipping through what there was available to them.
"Hey, don't rush me. It's important to make the right choice." She informed him. The music from the party had been a little more modern than what she normally listened to so it was a delight to see CDs like this to choose from for their own backyard party. Before long she grabbed one triumphantly. "This, oh this one, you're going to like this." She told him, but didn't let John see what she had picked before she was loading the CD into the boom box and pressing play.
