She rolled her eyes at him. "Oh stop it, you're not that old. Besides I bet we can make you go full on Grinch and grow your heart three sizes before long." She teased making a face at him at the idea of it.
A part of her wanted to pat his head when he leaned toward her after telling her that he'd eaten the food he'd been brought and well - Kitty was a big believer in giving in to those kinds of impulses so she reached across the distance between them and patted his head with a smirk. "You did very well, I'm proud." She said in her most professorial tone.
She leaned back a little when he mentioned her life back home, the way it all seemed good from what he'd heard so far, so her leaving hadn't seemed like the logical choice. Of course leaving was never what she was trying to do - at least not big picture. She had responsibilities back there, the school for one, and the X-Men too, being here was not something she'd chosen for herself. She didn't say any of that to him. She didn't know why she was so reluctant to talk about it. She hadn't said anything about it to Ororo, Bobby had been the only one she'd told about the wedding.
She took another drink as she waited for him to tell her about the theme of his party before she shook her head. "Never been very good at that kind of party." She admitted, maybe when she'd been stuck on a rocket flying through space without the hope of ever being free again - that could have used a pity party, but who would have drank with her then? Maybe Chicago had been a bit of that, as much as she said it was reclaiming her life, it had felt a little like running away even to the part of her that insisted it was for the best.
