Kitty shrugged a little when he mentioned the changing names, "I guess it's kind of what happens when you're growing up?" She suggested, "I had a couple of names when I was younger that don't really fit all that well now that I'm older, and Shadowcat - it's the name I took while I was making use of my ninja skills." Which sounded ridiculous, she knew, but it was still a part of her. "They're all still me in some way, but I like to go by Kitty these days, I want people to see me and know me, not a code name. Because I can hide my mutation, I don't want to hide behind a code name, I want to be visible whether I'm in the uniform or not."
It sounded like John had been having plenty from his bottle before she showed up, so Kitty was glad she'd only brought the beers with her and not anything more. "I'll remember that for next time," Because they could drink together sometime, Kitty wouldn't mind that, they were doing it enough as it was.
He was definitely in a mood, and Kitty didn't come here to start a fight or even lament the night with him. Instead she'd wanted to come and make sure that he was okay. Maybe it was silly especially when he seemed so keen to feel sorry for himself, but Kitty didn't want to leave him alone after everything. She didn't like the way things had happened, she didn't like that his idea had turned into this, to the point where he hadn't wanted any part of it at all. She knew that kind of disappointment and she didn't want that for him.
"This one is fine," She said lifting her shoulders, "He seems to know what he's doing and for the moment it seems like he just wants to do what's best for everyone." And she knew that he hadn't had anything to do with how the party planning had gone, so she could forgive him that. Her issues with Tony Stark were relegated to the one they'd left behind.
"I noticed you weren't around." She said instead of getting into all of that with him though, it wouldn't make either one of them feel any better. "So I thought I'd come see what you were getting up to."
