The Birthday Boy + Young Steve
"Stop that," Tony said waving away Steve's initial attempt to put down his abilities, maybe Steve wasn't ever going to invent some amazing new piece of tech to change the world or something like that, but he was plenty talented in all sorts of other ways, and this was just one of those things he could do better than most people. Tony would have never been able to do anything like this, at least not with his own two hands. "Yo're great."
Steve was kind of quiet a lot of the times, going with warm smiles, maybe a clap on the shoulder when he was feeling particularly generous, or maybe when he just didn't know what else to do, Tony never was totally sure, not that he didn't want him to do that of course, Tony was pretty much all about anything that had Steve touching him, the point was that he wasn't quite as over the top the way Tony could be. And this was just proof of that.
Rather than try and go for some sort of similar reaction, Tony decided that since it was his birthday he was allowed to be open about how much he liked the gift and when Steve wished him a happy birthday he threw his arms around him hugging Steve tightly, uncaring of the way he had to push up on his toes to really manage it or anything like that.
"Thank you, Steve. Really." Maybe not just for the art, but for being his friend, for being here, for putting up with him, so many things.
