Peter didn't have to be the genius he was to know where she'd been going with that statement before she'd cut herself off, and he got it - truly he did. Considering his own abilities he knew what it was like to think of yourself as the sort of person who never needed anyone else. Before he'd met Miles he'd let himself fall into that - the idea that he could do everything on his own, that he didn't need anyone else.
That had changed obviously, and this was probably the start of something like that for Irene if he had to guess.
"I get it." Peter said gently, "I know all of this is a lot, us and being stuck here and the doors, it's a lot for those of us who regularly deal with the multiverse where we come from, so I can take a guess at how much it is for you trying to take all of this in at once." And the suggestion that she might do better with someone with her was an easy thing to direct some manner of frustration toward, Peter got it.
As for the doors, "You can leave the door open if you want." Peter told her first, "I know several people do that when they go through. Or you can just open and look to see if it's something you want to try and close it without ever stepping through." He added, it was certainly something he'd do - he'd gone hesitantly through the door his first time, taking a moment to peer through into the crowded convention hall before he'd decided he could give it a try.
"I have heard that the door does disappear occasionally for some people, but it seems to reappear so they can come back eventually." The thought of that was something that was more than a little terrifying, the only thing worse than being trapped in a pocket universe was the idea of being trapped in a different dimension inside a pocket universe. "And well as far as anything coming from the other side he shook his head. "As far as I know, nothing has come back from the other side that we haven't brought along purposefully."
