There were so many people there that he knew, practically everyone he cared about apart from his Sam, that Steve forgot what it must be like for people that were there alone. It almost felt like home, or a version of it that seemed to actually be better than the reality he'd come from. Where he'd come from had been falling apart, the people he cared about lost. Here they were still flesh and blood. He'd really have to think about if he wanted to go back, if the opportunity ever came up. But not everyone was so lucky and he could see him keeping to himself mostly.
Steve wasn't an official leader, he'd just been around the longest and when it came to the people who knew him sometimes he called the shots. But he wasn't walking around insisting on being in charge of anything. What he hoped was just to keep people safe and looked after and so he wanted to check in on people where he could.
"Well I'm sure Natasha will be pleased, this is probably better than she expected," Steve said earnestly.
"I'm Steve, I know I've said hello in passing but I haven't introduced myself properly," he said as he held out his hand to the other man.
