Well, at least she wasn't the only one who was completely mystified most of the time. It often seemed like everyone else had such a handle on things that she felt like she'd never catch up; she'd just spend the rest of her life utterly lost and trying to keep up. Logically she knew it couldn't be true - she already knew a lot of things she hadn't when she'd followed that psychic summons to help fight against Devondra - but that hardly helped how she felt. "I'm better at rolling with real punches," she sighed. "America has better food though. And clothes. I like seeing how everyone dresses." Even if she didn't feel as though she had enough of a grasp of it yet to experiment much herself - she was still sticking with pretty conservative styles, so far.
She was surprised to recognise the name; Brooklyn was where Stephen was from, too, and she suddenly wondered whether this Steve was like the other Steve who looked like Stephen but wasn't. Clearly he was a lot younger, but there was also something weirdly similar in his face, the way he stood.
There could just have been more than one blond guy named Steve from Brooklyn though. She didn't actually know how big the place was.
"It's pretty boring. Lots of little villages and farms and churches. Why did you go there?" It was more curious than judgmental despite the dismissiveness of the statement before it - didn't people normally go to interesting places when they traveled?
