There was a line that was on the cusp of blurring, for sure. Flirting with Clint wasn't something he was consciously doing to try to betray Natasha or fool Clint into doing so. They just naturally fell into this sort of flirtatious banter that they came by honestly, and it was hard to just... not do that. Bucky had been very honest with Natasha about what he felt when it came to Clint. She knew where he stood. It wasn't a secret that Bucky had a thing for Clint Barton, and she supported the idea that they needed to talk about it.
Natasha was one hell of an amazing woman.
Because whatever happened, if anything happened, it was best that all the cards were laid on the table between all three of them. Whatever the play, whatever the outcome, decisions would be made based on nothing but the truth. Even if that just meant that Bucky confessed how he felt to them both, and they continued their relationship as it was, that was okay. Bucky was still going to be happy for them. He would still come see Clint at COFFEE or listen to him talk about Dog Cops in his nest. And he'd still be there for walks with Natasha and dinners or for fuck's sake, coffee with all three of them together. If nothing changed, that meant nothing changed, including his friendship with them both.
"Just the incorrigible and irresistible company is enough," he said. Bucky didn't want to have to hold anything in his hands because he'd likely be needing to keep them in his pockets or fidget or something.
