She snorted a little when he pulled up her old codename, "I think you're a couple of years behind the curve on that one." She teased, grinning when he looked at her like that, like he was pleased with himself and enjoying their teasing. It was good, she decided - she'd much rather have him like this, a little abrasive maybe, but funny and willing to laugh - that was the important thing.
Everyone deserved a second chance, and even some chances after that. Kitty certainly had been given plenty of chances in her life, it was the least she could do to give him another shot at this. Especially when he seemed so willing to try.
As long as that remained true Kitty wasn't going to give up on him.
She smiled when he started to tell her about the beach he imagined when he thought of a place to relax. "Yeah?" It was clearly a place that had left an impression on him. "It sounds like a nice place, I can see why you'd want to go back to a place like that." Maybe it was a pipe dream, it was the sort of thing they could try and hope for. "We'll keep our fingers crossed, you never know, maybe it'll show up sometime. Or a place like it." Sure they'd just been to a place that was kind of a nightmare, but from what she'd heard sometimes the doors went to less terrible places, maybe John would find his beach.
