She didn't need him to finish it, she got it - she lived well not a similar life, but one that said that being prepared was probably for the best as well, so she got it. And considering what his life had been, well it made sense for him too. "We'll probably want to check it again in a couple of days just to make sure it's not infected, but it was a fairly clean cut, so you'll probably be fine."
It was strange, being here with him like this, Pyro of all people. Maybe this was how Bobby felt with the new Pyro on his team, that he should be worried about it or something. But Bobby had told her he'd seen something in Simon to keep him around and Kitty saw just a little something in John that told her he was worth giving a chance.
She laughed, "It's not the first time I've done some stitches," She assured him, sure she wasn't really a doctor but considering things, most of the X-Men knew how to help clean up a wound when necessary.
"Oh," Perhaps the biggest surprise of the day was John thanking her for coming with him. She didn't even want to think about what might have happened if he'd gone in there on his own like that. John could of course take care of himself, he'd displayed that ability any number of times in her experience, but that place was kind of a nightmare. "I mean of course, I mean I didn't do a great job of having your back, but - you know." What was she doing? "I'm glad I was there too." And not just because they'd gotten what they'd gone in there for, but she'd have never forgiven herself if she'd watched him go in there on his own and then not come back.
"I ah," She furrowed her brow for a moment, "I should thank you too actually." She started, "You didn't have to do that, for me." In truth neither one of them needed to have done it, but he'd acted without thinking, and it had been in defense of her, and that was something that spoke so much louder than any of his talk that he was good now, or any of his more frustrating moments. He'd saved her when he didn't have to. "You were a good partner back there. Thank you."
