Who: Clint & Kate
What: Costco Trip!
When: Today!
Where: Through the door
Rating: OA for Oversized Adventure!

It had been a while since the two had ventured through the door together (Kate blamed it on their business), but they had decided to close shop early and try their luck to see if they could find any supplies for COFFEE. It seemed to be going fairly well, the other people in town bringing things by as they found them on their own adventures. They had both promised Natasha a frappuccino for the hard days, so those ingredients, plus a blender, was on their shopping list.

Kate still wasn't very sure (was anyone?) of how the door operated, but today it seemed to answer their prayers. They had walked through and seemingly stepped into a normal world. Kate thought they were living the height of luxury when they were able to cram a huge cheeseburger and fries down their throats before they explored to find exactly what they needed. She had been hoping for, at the very least, a Wal-Mart, but she and Clint must have had some good juju going because they rounded a corner and were faced with the mother store of them all: a Costco.

The hardest part about a Costco, however, was the membership part. How could they sneak in? "I mean...I guess we could just see if we can crawl through their ventilation?" Kate looked up, shielding her eyes against the sun as she tried to see what they had to work with. "Or we could try and ask someone to borrow their card?" She glanced at him, shrugging her shoulders as if it seemed like a good second option.

"Thoughts?"

This was a conundrum of sorts, and Clint almost laughed over just how banal and strange it was for this to be one of their biggest problems of the day: How to get into a Costco. Times had really changed. It'd been -- hell. At least three months since the last time he'd fallen off a building. And that was weird.

"Huh," he said thoughtfully, rubbing at his chin because that also proved just how thoughtful he was. Obviously. "Well. We could. ...Buy a membership, I guess? How much money do you have?" He had his credit card on him and some cash still, and he hadn't had problems with it working before -- and it was the kind of thing where he had to wonder about if there was still some version of him living his normal life somewhere and Clint was just taking the money that he was putting into the account. Or maybe he'd just run out eventually. He probably should try and find a bank one of these days to figure it out.

"Or I guess we could.." he frowned, looking around. "Yeah. Maybe scale the roof. Get in that way. Try and pick pocket someone's card once we're in? You need 'em to check out. I went with Bobbi sometimes."

"How responsible of you," Kate teased, although she had to admit, she hadn't thought of the obvious: buy a membership. Would they ever use it again? Who knew? She'd heard of crazier things happening than being able to go to Costco again through the doorway.

But option two definitely sounded doable and it meant less money they'd have to spend. Because if they were actually going shopping, she could only imagine what that bill would look like. "I'm feeling up for an adventure." She glanced up and back at him, slowly raising her index finger up. "If we get caught, we'll just try your idea of buying a membership." It's not like they would turn them down when they admitted their mistake and asked to be a paying member, right? But Kate felt fairly confident they could sneak in this way. When the goal was to bring back as much booty for their little town as possible, the motivation suddenly seemed to increase. Before it had been about protecting people from the bad guys, now they were protecting their friends by providing for them.

Kate felt so domesticated.

"Do you think if I leave my stuff on the roof, it'll be safe?" Kate was already pulling out one of their grappling arrows, glancing around to make sure no one was around to witness their attempt. At least she had her bow on her; always prepared for whatever the doorway held. She was like a boy scout or something!

"Were you ever a Boy Scout?" she asked out loud, as she loosened the arrow and let it fly. She pulled back on the string, feeling it grow taut and held it out to Clint, bowing. "Gentlemen first."

Yeah. He could have used an adventure too. As much as walking in and buying a membership would probably be easier it was also a great deal less fun. And sometimes, a Hawkeye (or two) just needed to let loose. Get up on some roofs. Break into a costco.

God, the rebel life was so intense. He wasn't sure how he'd managed all these years.

He had his bow too (he never really went anywhere without it, because why would he? It wasn't hard to find reasons to be paranoid in a place like Starklandia -- or, well, the places outside it), but was more than happy to step back and keep watch while she got her grappling arrow out. Grappling arrow. Respect the grip.

"Yeah. I doubt anyone goes up there. I'll leave my bow too. Make us look a little less like.... creepers, I guess." He shrugged a little and moved to tug at the string before scaling up the wall like it was his business to be doing so. "Boy Scout? Me? Are you serious?"

"Creepers?" Kate made a face he couldn't see as she followed up after him, careful not to look back down. One hand in front of the other...one foot in front of the other.... No problem. They were regular Peter Parkers! "Hey wait, we should totally take a selfie and show it to the Peter's!" Kate climbed a little way, digging into her pocket to pull out her phone. "Hurry, say 'Costco adventure!'" She grinned, snapping a quick pic, before stuffing her phone back in her suit and resuming the climb.

"I dunno, maybe you were interested in canoeing as a kid!" She shrugged. It didn't really sound like something up Clint's alley, but he always had ways of surprising her. She learned not to always pin him to one thing or another.

When they reached the top, Kate tucked her quiver and bow against the side of the building, hoping it would go unnoticed. "They'll be fine, yeah?" She glanced at Clint as he put his down as well. "No one comes up on the roof, right?" And now the trouble of getting in. She glanced at the ventilation opening and sighed. "We can't just slide on down, right?" Man, this would be a good work out. She'd be able to eat all the Costco hot dogs after this.

"Costco adventure," Clint said, flashing a peace sign even though he was totally in the middle of the wrong syllable in the picture and no doubt looked like a fool. That'd be one he never showed to anyone else. Knowing Kate, it'd end up in the coffee shop.

"I was never interested in canoeing as a kid," Clint said with a laugh. "No one canoes in Iowa. That's not a thing." At least, he didn't think it was a thing. He didn't know what people did to in Iowa if he was being honest. He sort of just figured there was a whole lot of not having a good time going on. That's what he had done anyway, before running away with Barney and joining the circus.

"I dont think people go up to roofs?" Clint said, doing the same with his quiver and bow and then squinting at what would eventually lead to air ducts. "I mean, there's probably just a stairway," he pointed out. Literally pointed out, since there was a door there.

Kate glanced over to where he indicated, blinked, and turned to look at him again. "Stop being so practical," she huffed, giving him a small punch in the shoulder. Man, she really had to work on her observation skills. Was the village making her weak? She never thought she had any sort of superpower, but she had always been proud of her situational awareness and accuracy. They didn't really need it around town, had she somehow slacked in her abilities?

They started their descent in silence before Kate's stomach rumbled and echoed through the stairwell. "Huh. Food court first, then shopping?" Priorities man. How could they possibly think to tackle a huge shopping trip like Costco without any food first? At least Kate hadn't had anything to eat yet...just a couple cups of coffee and a piece of pizza from Panchos. "And do you think we could "borrow"," she did the air quotes, "their wheely carts and just ride them back to the village?" It'd be a fast getaway, just like riding a scooter, right? From what she remembered, the door wasn't too far away, they might actually make it.

Plus it might be fun to race those flatbeds around town.

"We could share a pizza! And don't they have like...smoothies or something like that?" Man, how many stairs did this thing have. "And where do you think this'll lead us? Do you think it'll be somewhere in their back-oh!" Kate had just opened the last door, dropping them outside the bathrooms and employee break area. "Ha, nice!" She turned around to give Clint a high five.

"But really, food?"

Clint didn't think the town was making her weak, but he did think it was making her a little bored. Kate was bypassing safe methods in order to do things that were harder, but probably a lot more fun in terms of risk-taking. He got it, he did stuff like that sometimes too. It was only that he was armed with the knowledge that Natasha would kick his ass if he did something so dumb like fall out of an air duct in a CostCo that stopped him being too stupid.

"Food court," Clint agreed. "I wanna churro." Who didn't want a churro? "And pizza." No offense to Alpha Peter's but there was just something better about some really greasy pizza. Luckily they were on the same wavelength, since Kate suggested the same thing. He grinned and high fived her right back before they snuck back out into the main portion of the store. God, these places were big. It was practically overwhelming.

"We should definitely take some carts," he agreed. That'd let them carry a shit ton more than what they could in their hands. "We just gotta remember one of us takes two carts, the other one goes and gets our stuff and then we make a mad dash for it."

But first pizza. He ordered one with all their favorite toppings, and two sodas because whatever, smoothies were good but they didn't go with pizza, and then went to scope out one of the picnic tables. "Okay," he said to Kate, in his most conspiratorial of voices. "Let's make a list. Stuff we need the most."

Pizzzaaaaaa. Pizza? Pizza. Kate blinked, glancing from the steaming hot pizza in front of them to Clint, realizing he had been talking to her this whole time. "What?" She reached for a slice, practically drooling as the cheese stretched from its home to her plate. "Sorry, there's pizza so..." She pointed to the wheel of deliciousness as if that explained everything. Because it should.

After a few slices, Kate sat back with a sigh, holding the small food baby she had in her stomach. "Alright. So. I'll grab our stuff and meet you by the door while you ride the pushcarts out. And...you said a list?" She reached for another piece; they couldn't let it go to waste! That would be a travesty! She thought about it, licking the grease that dripped off her fingertips. "TP because...YIKES." She pulled out her phone and started making notes on it. "Junk food snacks? I don't know if they actually have healthy things here...but I guess we could check. Coffee." She nodded her head as if that was a given. They'd be able to stock up on SO MUCH. "Does anyone have a microwave yet? I've really been craving those microwavable taquitos. That's possible right?" She glanced around, realizing that they had beds here. "What are the possibilities we could get outta here with a bed? Good? Fair?" Well, maybe that would be on the bottom of their shopping list...if there was room on the cart at the end, maybe she'd try and toss it on. Easy.
