Birthday Boy | Carol
Curtains was more than he had, frankly. The place he'd picked out had a bed and not much else, but it was clean and for now that was probably good enough. But in comparison, Carol's place was practically nice. Not that he'd come up here to check out the decor.
He rose an eyebrow at the cat escaping but rather honestly would have preferred it not there for this anyway, considering what he knew of the thing. "Right as rain," he agreed, and then smiled a little lopsidedly when she offered up that look like she was about to make a life or death decision.
(John pointedly did not think about how that might very well have been true. People didn't have a great track record of living, when they hung around him too much.)
But she was take charge and kissed like she meant it, and John was quick to throw away the little worries and to move on straight to better things. Like kissing back to give as good as Carol gave, and pulling her in closer. Constantine was a wise enough man not to mention that he'd told her so.
