Who: Bill Weasley and Klaus Hargreeves
What: Bill arriving
When: Thursday night
Where: The square
Rating: Smoking and hello and a little closeup PG magic probs

Bill had been going home from The Burrow, a quick floo should have landed him back in his own fireplace but instead he found himself in the middle of a deserted but quaint little square. To his left the embers of a fire burned, the smell of coffee hung in the air and surely this wasn't one big fireplace so how had he gone and ended up here? Wand in hand he tried to apparate, only to stay right where he was. That was two things that didn't add up and that he didn't like, not one bit.

He stoked the fire with a simple flick of his wand, so that the light might grow a little and show more of where he was without drawing attention if muggles were about. But even when he could see more, it only made it more confusing as it showed things to be rundown and appear even more deserted.

The heels of his boots clicked on the stone as he walked the perimeter of the square, wand in his hand inside of his pocket, just to be safe. Things had been happening, He Who Must Not Be Named had returned and killed a student, but could that possibly have anything to do with this? It was hard to believe but still Bill was cautious, these days you never knew.

It had been a big day for Klaus, there had been a seance, which admittedly hadn't really gone exactly the way he thought it might and then a dead brother turned up not quite so dead, he'd had some coffee, he'd you know done some stuff and now here he was with another new person, and if not for the hair that was obviously entirely wrong he hoped for just a beat that it might have been anther one of his siblings showing up after all this time.

"You look new." Klaus said as he approached from a side street, moving slowly, taking his time about it as he looked the other man up and down, he had that look about him, confused looking for an explanation, like he wasn't quite where he was meant to be.

"I'm Klaus," He raised a hand in greeting, as he got closer, surprised to see the fire still going, usually at this hour it was just embers, but well maybe his favorite corn chip had been out late tonight as well. "Let me guess, you just happened to find yourself here with no apparently explanation?"

As the stranger approached Bill's hand dropped down by his side, wand between his fingers. It was better safe these days after all. "New?" Bill wasn't sure exactly what that meant, but the other man appeared unthreatening as of yet so he didn't raise his wand up, preferring to wait.

People who introduced themselves didn't tend to be too dangerous and Bill waited until he was closer and the fire lit up his face before he waved in return. "Something like that," Bill said. "Where's here?" Yes that was a good place to start.

Bill was good at keeping calm under pressure, but he didn't like being on the backfoot like this. "I'm Bill," he added after a beat.

He was a little more wary than Klaus had been and he wondered where he'd come from but well - maybe that was the more normal response to finding yourself in a new place like this, not simply to start flirting with the first person who found you talking to yourself in the middle of the street. But when did Klaus ever do anything normally?

"Uh I think we're calling it Starklandia, but let's be honest - it's a made up name so you can call it whatever you want." He shrugged, the name was really incidental to where they were. "I think we've decided it's a pocket universe, people from all sorts of different realities are being drawn here and look at you - you're one of the lucky few who got the joy of being caught up here with the rest of us."

He smiled though when good looking introduced himself. "Bill yeah that's great, that's a good name, very fitting." He decided as if there was some reason that he should have an opinion about his name. "I think you're gonna fit in just fine around here. Are you a superhero? Maybe a wizard? Just a dude? We've got some of all three here."

Maybe if he hadn't come fresh from He Who Must Not Be Named returning Bill would have been more relaxed. But he had to admit he was worried, not that he thought that anyone would target him, but still. Things that weren't the norm were worrying in times like these. Although this place and the man seemed harmless enough.

"Starklandia, huh?" Bill asked with raised eyebrows. It was odd, then again he'd just purchased some property and it was named Shell Cottage so it wasn't like he was in a position to brag about creativity. But then there was the pocket universe talk and Bill was waiting for someone to jump out and holler surprise.

The only surprise was being asked if he was a superhero and then the man who looked like he might be a muggle knowing about wizards. Bill raised his wand, twirling it around his fingers with a smile. "And what about you? What category do you fit into?"

"Trust me, I know how it sounds." Klaus heard it, but to be honest he didn't have a better name for it - nor did he care enough to try and make one up himself, so he just went with what it seemed like the majority of people did. So here he was introducing this place by some stupid made up name. But he supposed this was how all places got their names, the first people living there always thought it was stupid and pretentious and then after a while people just got used to it - hopefully there wouldn't be people here long enough to get used to this name though.

Klaus brightened when Bill showed off a wand, grinning. "Wizard great, fantastic, I've met a few of you already." He wondered if being good looking was something that applied to all wizards or if it was just the ones he'd met so far. He'd need a larger sample size to know for sure. It sounded more like the kind of math Five would want to do though.

"Somewhere in between I suppose, just a guy most often though." It fit him better, even when they'd been kids they'd never really been superheros, they were just tools that had been used by Reginald for his machinations. It was better when he was just a guy. Even if he might have some kind of calling people through dimensions power now. Or something like that.

"Well as long as you know how it sounds, love," he said. It was a lot to take in and Bill wasn't sure if he believed it yet. But he'd tried again to apparate and failed, which had never happened before. His magic was working though, he'd been able to stoke the fire, so it just seemed that he was trapped there.

Bill had been working in Egypt for a while now, there were all kinds of people there, but not that many Americans so Klaus' voice stood out to him. "Well hopefully I can impress as much as they did."

He wondered how you could be somewhere in between a superhero, a wizard and just a guy and Bill was actually eager to find out because it sounded like an interesting mix. Bill slid a packet of cigarettes free from his back pocket, moving one between his lips before he offered it to the other man, lighting it with his wand.

"I die a little bit on the inside every time I say it," Klaus confided, like it was some kind of secret that he'd been holding in and had absolutely needed to share, but Bill was just the first person who seemed to understand enough that he was willing to part with this vital information.

He'd looked Bill over as he'd approached, he was certainly good looking, but he took a moment to look again with the knew knowledge that he was a wizard and decided that it fit him, you didn't look at him think oh this guy does magic or something like that - right cause that's how wizards looked - even Klaus rolled his eyes at himself for that one. It was just some sort of nameless quality that he had that looked right on him when Klaus learned he was a wizard. "I'm sure you won't have any trouble there."

When Bill offered him a cigarette, Klaus took it willingly, grinning when he watched him use his wand to light it up. "Now that is the sort of thing that would come in handy all the time," he said shaking his head, magic really was pretty cool. "None of this running around with a lighter shoved down your pants the way the rest of us poor saps have to do it."

The pretty little thing had a flair for the dramatic and it made Bill smile. It was hard not to trust someone like that, they certainly weren't a Death Eater, not with eyeliner like that. But that didn't actually lessen the slight feeling of anxiety that Bill had no idea where he was and that he couldn't seem to leave. There were curses in place in tombs that stopped you popping in and out, or wards like on Hogwarts, but that felt different than this.

Bill couldn't even focus completely on flirting, although he couldn't turn it off either. He cupped the tip of his wand against the breeze before he held it out so Klaus could light his own as well. "Ta da!" He exclaimed with a grin. "You should see what else I can do."

He pat down his pockets, hoping there might be a flask somewhere in his jacket, letting out a sigh when he didn't find one. "Anywhere around here a gent can get a nip of something?" Bill asked doubtfully as he looked around the deserted square.

Klaus leaned in and let Bill hold up his wand so he could get a light too, he exhaled with a pleased grin on his face, "Oh I'm sure there is a whole world of things a guy like you could do." Klaus agreed easily. Bill looked like someone who spent his time taking care of himself, but not in a vain stand in front of the mirror kind of way but simply because that was the kind of life he lived, one that kept him strong and looking the way he did.

"You'll have to give me a demonstration sometime," Klaus added, because if his roaming eyes weren't enough of a hint he was entirely interested in getting to know Bill a bit better, whether that was right here in the center of town or anywhere else for that matter.

He nodded when he asked about a drink, "We've got a bar, it's new." Klaus agreed, "I've got some options at my place too," Of course he also had his brothers there as well, but that was another matter entirely. "I can show you around a bit if you want, make sure you've got your phone and all that."

Bill's job meant a little heavy lifting, it meant getting out into the hot sun and he looked the part. He was a little precious about his hair, took special care of it and guarded it against his mother's wand, but he was happy to just pull it back when he needed to. The smile lit up his face and he let the flame extinguish from his wand tip, yes Klaus seemed harmless enough and the flirting really set Bill at ease.

It was more than innocent flirting though, there was a real offer in Klaus' lingering glance and the way his gaze went up and down the length of his body. It was nice, Bill was flattered and it was a good distraction.

He tucked his wand into his pocket before he offered Klaus his arm. "Phone? I mean I know what they are but I don't know how to use it," Bill admitted. "And I'd be open to a drink at your place, if you're offering."

Oh yes, he liked this one, Klaus decided when he offered him his arm. He linked his arm through it easy as you please and started them down the lane toward the center of town where those sorts of things were kept. "Never gotten to use a phone before?" He asked, little surprised but considering the other wizards he'd met not too shocked, "I knew a wizard who had never even seen a movie before." He said shaking his head, the very idea of it was still a little hard for Klaus to wrap his mind around.

"I'll show you the way around you phone if you like, and we can see about getting you settled." He offered after they'd picked up Bill's new tech and then started them down a different street from the one they'd come in on toward his home.

"But first I think a drink or two is in order," After he got his brothers clear, then maybe he could see just how strong Bill actually was or if his initial assessment of him had been wrong and this was all just for show. "You could use one, hearing about this place usually requires just a bit of alcohol in my experience."

Bill was a gentleman, he'd been raised right after all, but he also liked making someone smile the way Klaus was. "No need, after all, no one else has one." Compared to the rest of his family Bill was the most familiar with Muggle things, but he was still a pureblood and that meant being a little removed from that world. "I have been to a moving picture viewing though," he added.

He picked up the phone and slid it into his pocket, Bill would work on that later. "Let's get settled," Bill said as he tucked Klaus' hand back into the crook of his elbow.

"That's exactly what I was thinking." As they walked through the town Bill remembered the way as best he could, taking note of how rundown it seemed. Work needed to be done on it, but hopefully he wouldn't be here long enough to need to vulunteer. "I'm never one to turn down a drink, love."

"A moving picture viewing," Klaus said with absolute delight as he patted Bill's arm, "Oh wow that is just the most wonderful thing I think I've ever heard." It was truly something wonderful to see a man like Bill and know that he called movies, moving pictures, Klaus was completely charmed.

And add to that Bill's easy way with holding his arm and well, yes Klaus was keeping this one, he decided. It was easy to lead him through the streets, pointing out the sort of business district, though that was probably a more than generous definition of it - but still they were important spaces and they were on the way back to his place where he'd be spending some time getting to know Bill better very soon.

"I'll have to remember that," Klaus assured him, because if that was all it took then he'd certainly have Bill around often. "Where we go," He said when they came up to his home, letting them both in, thankfully it looked like both his brothers had made themselves scarce for the moment so there were no awkward shooing moments to be had. "Well you just make yourself comfortable, I'll get us something to drink," Klaus urged Bill to sit, he'd cobbled together a mostly furnished home, not well - certainly not anything like the Academy but there were places to sit now so that was something.

"So what do you do Bill?" Klaus asked as he wandered his way back to him, offering Bill a glass of whiskey, sure he gave a lot of what he found to Pancho's but Klaus kept a lot of the really good stuff for himself. He was no fool.

He wasn't quite sure what had delighted Klaus so much, but at least it was because of him, what wasn't to like about that? It was a muggle thing but he'd been to a movie theatre and enjoyed it, he could see the appeal. "Glad to be of service."

It wasn't a big place and they didn't come across anyone else on their journey but he could see lights on in buildings, they certainly weren't alone. Bill would get a better look around in the daytime, if he hadn't found a way out of there by then. At least he knew he could make his way back to the square even once they'd arrived at Klaus' house.

They stepped inside and Bill stopped to wipe his dragon hide boots. Klaus told him to make himself comfortable and he sat on the couch for a moment before getting back up. He pulled up the cushions, finding the springs broken and repaired them with a few simple spells, even fluffing it up some before he sat again.

Bill reached up to take the glass with a grateful smile before he leaned back and crossed his long legs. "I'm a Cursebreaker, I work for a bank," he explained. "Lots of people lock away wealth and history before they die and I recover it." He took a sip of whiskey, keeping it small, by the smell he knew it was something to savor. "And what about you, Klaus?"

Klaus returned with drinks just as Bill was doing something to the couch, and then as he sat he realized that where it had been broken it was fixed. "You wizards," He said shaking his head, "You really are something else, I could have used someone like you a long time ago." After all the little things he'd seen some of the wizards in town do, Klaus was absolutely certain he'd have loved having a wizard around basically his entire life if that had ever been an option. As it was though he was certainly happy to make do with the here and now.

And right here and now there was Bill, sitting comfortably on his couch explaining that he was a cursebreaker, which sounded like exactly the right sort of thing for him, though Klaus had no idea what someone who was a curse breaker might look like other than the specimen before him. "Sounds like that's probably pretty interesting."

Klaus sat close, turned on the seat cushion so he could face Bill, one leg tucked up beneath him. "Me? Oh you know, a little of this," He held his hand out in one direction, "a little of that," and then the other. "Mostly, I do my best to avoid things like work whenever possible." He admitted easily, Klaus was never shy about who he was, and who he was back home - well he didn't do things like jobs, at least not real ones. He only ever did enough to have just enough cash on him for his next high.

"Here though - I guess I'm in the supply business." He shrugged, it was strange how it had happened, but it turned out he had a knack for the kind of robbery that allowed him to make multiple trips through the doors and come back with small things that everyone seemed to want at some point or another. "You don't realize how much you want some things until suddenly it's not an option any more."

It was impossible to imagine life without magic, because for Bill he'd always been surrounded by it. Growing up they hadn't known any muggles at all, being a pureblood family who lived far away from the nearest neighbour there was just no chance to come across them. "Well you can use me now, love," Bill said as the corners of his eyes scrunched up in a smile.

Klaus' answer wasn't really an answer, it was casually evasive but it wasn't like Bill was going to push for details. There were lots of reasons he might not want to talk about what he did and that wasn't his business. There were times Bill would have enjoyed a life trying to avoid working, but at the same time he just enjoyed the challenge of his job far too much. Not to mention he lived in fear of being as poor as he'd been growing up. "Too busy saving gents like me to have time to work more likely."

The supply business. Well Bill knew what that meant. He'd met plenty of different kinds of people in his life, he liked to go out and Bill loved a party so he wasn't about to turn his nose up. Not to mention him being in that business most likely explained the drink. "So how long have you been here then?"

"Oh believe me, I plan on doing exactly that." Klaus promised Bill when he offered himself up to be used. A big strong man like Bill, there were so many ways Klaus could use someone exactly like that in his life, and add magic to it all - and well that was an offer too good to refuse. And Klaus made a point never to refuse things that he really wanted.

He huffed lowly and nodded when Bill gave his estimation of what kept him busy and nodded sagely. "Oh yes, you can't believe how much time that takes out of my day." Today especially it seemed, but all in all this was something that was not totally new - but certainly unexpected for him. But if it got him people like Bill, Klaus thought maybe he could handle being the one to find the new arrivals to town and sharing a drink with them. "Not all of them are quite as charming as you though, I'm afraid, but that's the way things are here."

"It's been ..." He paused and frowned as he counted back, it had been a month when Five arrived, but a few weeks had passed since then. "Nearly two months I think." He said finally, it was hard to believe even for him. Two months was the longest amount of time he'd been sober since he'd started using in the first place. "Others have been here longer of course." He added, "We're all just making the best of it while we can."
